Had this in my jourrnal but since theres a section for it, here ya go...
Car: 2007 Forester
Engine: EJ251
Trans: auto
Catback: 2006 Sti catback (extension welded in midpipe)
Headers: Stock EL headers
Cat section: Stock

Butt dyno shows increase in excelleration, especially highways. Nice low tone. Could be better with uel's but don't want to loose any umph I already made.

I just wanted to post this because I haven't heard any of the other examples on Youtube sound quite like mine.

Bone stock engined 09 X with just a 15 STi catback. This is the non resonated midpipe.

Cold startup I thought it was hitting the body somewhere the "rattle" is so loud. Warmed up it's almost silent at idle and sounds like a sport bike on free rev. It is actually very pleasant from the drivers seat while driving. Just enough to hear the engine and the trans actually shifts fairly fast and it has a small GTR'ish pop between shifts. This was only around town though I haven't had it on the highway yet to experience the dreaded drone people talk about. I did sound deaden the whole back floor/wheel wells/spare tire well already so maybe that helps a bunch. I have a MIG and TIG welder if it ends up driving me crazy I'll just put a resonator in there. I've used the Vibrant Ultra-Quiet on a few cars and love it.

Can I ask what you used to sound deaden? I had a similar set-up and would get a boomy resonance while slowing to a stop. Having an auto, it was impossible to pop it out of gear and have it coast down. Have you gotten similar noise? Do you still run this setup?

Thanks for any info on how you made this livable.

My old setup on the SOHC motor.

2001 Forester L
-Short ram intake
-Borla UELs
-1 stock cat, 1 High flow
-2.25" midpipe (no resonator)
-04 STi axleback muffler.

And some comparisons, post swap:
-SPT catback
-Cobb Catback
-Straightpiped

While I agree its kinda raspy, its at least not going to wake up the neighborhood when leaving.

I just picked up and STi catback and I'm really pleased based on the video Subiciv posted. Its been hard to find someone with just the STi cat/axle back and nothing else modified on a N/A. To each his own, but I like it.
