Air conditioning compressor bearing

From a recent service it was reported that my air con compressor bearing was on its way out.

Has anyone in the UK successfully replaced just the bearing rather than the whole compressor unit?
There is already a post on this forum from a guy in the US that had done just that but sourcing the MT2021 bearing in the UK is tricky.

I've not changed anything as yet. I've found a German site that sells multiple versions of (new) Subaru compressors, they provide technical drawings similar to the one that Don posted above (probably the same site)

I was going to remove my compressor without taking off the gassed hoses to confirm which version of compressor we have on the Foz and whether its compatible with anything else and go from there

Do you have a link to the site as mines at a garage now with the front end all stripped off, so i could ask them to strip it all down (think its being degassed tomorrow).

I know the main part number is;
Part number 73111SA001

But a quick google throws up a few websites, all linking back to a main parent one but each pumps out of stock.

Spoke to my garage as they said the pump is still strong, just the bearings starting to fail.

Using the sizes above, i found 3+ bearing companies in the UK all selling the same bearing so went with bearingboys and came to £35 inc next day delivery.

I did manage to find a replacement pump in a breakers but it was 010 and not 001 so no good, despite it coming from a facelift model

Looks like i need a replacement pump as while it now spins freely with its bearing, its still making a sound.

Ive enquired with the german company on how much the pump is so will post up what they say when they reply.

If i go down the new route, if your still after a bearing, gimme a shout as ill strip out the new one and sell it to you as it will be effectively new

Bit of a thread revival but what did you end up doing?

I purchased a Lucas pump from one of those German websites - garage fitted it and its faulty by not accepting a charge so old pump back on. If your needing a new pump, people pop up every now and then breaking SG models so probably best to get one from them and then have it refurbed at a specialist. Ended up sticking my old pump back on

But my issue was resolved by fitting the new pulley bearing and a new a.c. idler pulley.

I am still using my original one, if the info above regarding the dust is correct then I dont have an issue. Mine doesn't squeel like yours did so I think I was jumping the gun slightly. I'll probably take of the AC belt off at some point and check the spin of the pump on its own to see how it feels.

So you kept the original clutch and just fitted a new bearing? remove and repress the new on in I assume. Have you got the Bearing Boys part number please as their search is not bringing up the MT2021
