Old pcv left. The bulletin says its ceramic (inside?) But it looks aluminum.
The new one is steel.
We are now replacing some
Interesting to see the difference between the old and replacement PCV valves. After getting the old valve replaced during the December 2019 recall, the >new< replacement valve failed on my 2019 Forester Limited in April 2022. Abrupt and unexpected failure, smoke billowing out of tailpipe, had to be towed. Not encouraging for the reliability of the replacement, even if it is all steel.

That’s really bad luck. The replacement/improved valve reportedly what went into all subsequent production Foresters, mine included. That there haven’t been any subsequent PCV failure reports here except yours, makes me think they got it mostly right. Still, it shouldn’t be that difficult to make the device bullet proof.

Did they find all the parts?
