Where to mount the EZ Pass transponder? (merged thread)

Just bought a '16 Forester with EyeSight. The documentation warns against putting anything on windshield (e.g. stickers) that might obstruct the cameras 'view.' Does anyone know if there is a place on the windshield where you can put an EZ Pass transponder that won't mess up the EyeSight cameras? I don't believe my state offers a license-place mounted one.

Any of the corners should be sufficient, and would be out of the effective FOV of the Eyesight cameras. I would probably go with one of the upper corners since that would reduce the chance of reflection/glare impacting the cameras. The Eyesight documentation is overly cautious, as it should be considering it is safety system.

I installed my transponder behind the rearview mirror before I read the prohibitions. Also have a parking tag hanging from the mirror. No complaints from Eyesight. When I got my Crosstrek, I placed it in the upper left-hand side of the windshield. All work fine, as do their respective Eyesight packages.

I've got my EZPass and dash cam mounted just to the left and right of the rear view mirror mount, behind the mirror from the driver's perspective. They don't seem to interfere with the Eyesight in any way. At least, the Eyesight never goes inactive except in situations where I expect it to deactivate. I tried to take into account both the Eyesight cameras and my own eyes when placing them where I did.

Interesting aside, when my parents got their EZPass from PA, they were sent the license plate mount type. PA seems to think that there is something about the Subaru windshield that can block the signal.
Strange, because PA does not have a front plate, only the rear. Wonder if that's where they want the EZPass mounted? Might result in more violation fees since new Forester's don't have a handbrake to spin it backwards through the EZPass lane.

I'm in NH and have never had a problem mounting the transponder on the windshield behind any black dots. However I've never had a car with anything like Eyesight so just wanted to make sure that the transponder would not interfere. I should be able to put it dead center at the top of the windshield as I don't have any wires running up from the rearview mirror

I have a 2022 Forester Wilderness. My understanding is that the Eyesight system was modified for 2022. The manual shows where (on the windshield) items should not be mounted (to avoid interfering with Eyesight). I'm planning to mount my EZ-Pass soon. Before I do, I thought I'd double check with members here who have mounted toll transponders on a 2022. Other than avoiding the areas shown in the manual, any issues I should be aware of? Including good spots to mount the tag (tag instructions specify in front of the rear view mirror; this is in the area to be avoided). Thanks.

Lawyers, not engineers, apparently made the "do not mount things here" zones on these cars. With the newer Eyesight system, that has the camera enclosures that go all the way up to the windshield, there's literally no way to mount something where it will interfere with the cameras. (Unless you mount something to the outside of the windshield.)

On my 17, EZPass and dashcam are mounted behind the rearview mirror without affecting the Eyesight.
