Rear Seat Headrests

I would like to replace the two oversize left and right rear seat headrests with smaller ones like the one in the middle as Subaru has done in Foresters manufactured for sale in other countries. The current headrests obstruct my rear vision and since I do not normally cary passengers in the rear of my vehicle they serve no purpose. Does anyone know where I can obtain replacement headrests?

Have you tried to see if the one in the middle will fit in the left and right slots? If so, just order two of the middle ones and put them on the outside. It should be a listed part.

I'm like you ... nobody ever rides in the back; as far as I know, no one has even sat in the back seat of my Forester.

My rear headrests are in the basement, not that it matters, but the seats are folded down 99% of the time. Unlike my WRX, you can leave them in place and still fold the seats, but they are in the way if you stuff things behind the front seats. The car is faster and gets better mileage with them in the house. Well, a little.

Just remove them altogether if you have no one rides in the backseat. Why spend more money on items that see no use at all? You could stash them behind the seats if you want to be prepared for unexpected passengers.

I have in fact removed and stored the headrests. Rather than carry them around for the rare times that I may need them, I was looking for the smaller replacements that are OEM equipment on Foresters built for other markets. That is provided that they are available and not too expensive.

I did see a picture on this site somewhere of somebody who had two smaller ones installed in the rear seats. I don't remember where it was though. Might have been in a thread related to seat covers or something. I think it was a picture of somebody's Forester in Japan. It looked really awesome.

They obscure my rear vision as well and I thought about removing the headrests and putting them in the back for when I have passengers. Too much trouble. I folded the seats down. Done. If someone needs to sit back there just fold 'em back up.
