this is the first time im changing oil on my xt, was wondering if someone can tell me and pinpoint where the oil filter is?

It right behind the front bumper, just off center on the passenger side. If you look under the vehicle, there's a 'door' or hatch in the under-engine cover. Pull it open and the filter is up inside. The drain plug is also handy.

You really don't need to raise the vehicle to change the oil and filter. Just get a piece of cardboard or canvas or even a fender cover and lay it on the ground. Then you can reach under the vehicle with one arm.
