Vehicle Details:
2018 Forester 2.5i
If you are considering purchasing the CC2, you might want to wait for the CC3 and CC3 Sport:

It will be a while before I need new tires for my Forester since I got CrossClimate2s in August last year, so I imagine the CrossClimate3s will be available by the time I need new tires. I personally would probably never get the sport version but the improvements in the regular version sound promising.

I just put CC2s on our '05 in March so I'm anxious for winter to get here to try them in what they were designed for. So far they've been great dry and in the rain, but there is a bit of a gas mileage penalty. The '23 will be due for tires next year so time will tell if I stay with Continental or go with the CC3.

The sport version looks like a pretty good option for all the recent EV’s that have stupidly large wheels so you don’t have to get separate winter wheels and tires and can run the same tires all year round.

Damn them! I love the CC2's. Now I'll have additional choices as I switch over our remaining cars? I HATE THAT.

I put CC2's on our FWD Sienna 28 months and driven in light/moderate snow a few time over 2 winters. Nearly as good as the winter tires. Last weekend I crisscrossed the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY in driving rain, and the van stayed beautifully planted.

Last year I put a set on my kid's RAV4 AWD instead of replacing the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-90's, and same results. She lives on the top of a pretty steep hill, and had no issues on ice or snow getting up and down. I drove her car in the rain last week also, and she did the same trip thru upper NY with ease.

So now it's time to buy tires for the pair of Foresters. I guess I'll try and hold to see reviews on the CC3?

fwiw, that might mean at some point warehouses will want to discount the older model, so one can get a better price on a good tire. sure the new model might be better, but the previous model was very good, so getting a set, at a good price, might work for some ppl. I go thru tires like McDonalds goes thru French fries (35k-40k miles pr year) so I like good tires at a discount

I noticed a small drop in fuel economy when we moved from Michelin Premier tires over to the CC2 on the minivan, and that's certainly consistent with what others reported. The CC2 might be good in it's class (whatever that might be) for rolling resistance, but it's no match for a number of other tires Michelin produces. Still, that didn't bother me much. I dumped the Premiers at 5/32 remaining, because they were pretty poor in the wet and very poor in the snow. Despite all the hype about the angle cut tread blocks that were supposed to enlarge sipes and channels as they wore. I never found that they worked as intended.

I'll pass on the CC3 Sport. Starting tread depth of 7.7/32, higher wear, reduced wet(?) grip, harsher ride, etc. And I'm sure a premium price.

The CC3 does sound like a small step forward over the CC2 in a few key areas, although some gains were very small. Tread depth starts at 9.2/32 vs the full 10/32 I recorded on the CC2 tires.

I guess we'll have to chart availability, and as @Rumrunner mentioned, price, later this year.

What data are you using for that conclusion?
The rate of wear of much heavier personal trucks as an analog?
Rate of wear has less to do with weight (my EV weighs 4,700 lbs) and is more proportional to the amount of acceleration and cornering speed the car regularly sees. This has little to do with EV's in general except that they can be much more fun to drive and with much more acceleration capability they are often driven in a spirited manner.

Let’s keep the discussion focused on CrossClimate tires, specifically CC3 and CC3 Sport. There are plenty of other tire threads for more general tire talk. Thank you!
