My previous Forester was a Montana backroad sweeper. You seem to have the right ideas regarding height, firmer suspension, brakes and wheel/tire setups. I would recommend the forester specific Swift Springs. Completely changes handling dynamic for $200 (price from years ago, not sure on current) firms up but doesn't beat you up and doesn't lower the car enough to put you in jeopardy on most back roads or forest service roads. Stock struts/dampers are cheap (comparably) to replace and so are the Swifts. I would also suggest skids as I saw previously mentioned, either fabricating or picking up the set from Primitive Racing.. Rallitek probably has a set for sale too. The Whiteline steering bushing and 24mm rear sway bar on the medium setting also a plus. Excited to follow your progress.
If you need a suspension to haul ass on dirt, handle jumps, and take you to work on Monday..

did a little engine washing last night. This is in preparation of replacing valve Cover gaskets. Wash all the debris away and no grit should get in the valvetrain assembly. From “ass to class” with this one.

The lower trim really pops when painted black. Using paint designed for plastic is good because it’s designed to flex, the best part of it is that if you scratch it somehow, it’s easily repaired. Just sand that area and repaint. No primer needed. There are varying sheens too. I opted for matte, so it has a little gloss, but flat enough to hide imperfections. I’m going with a dark gold on the wheels. I think that will break up the black. The wheels on the driver side We’re already painted black by the previous owner. So I can tell you firsthand, that it is too much black if you have black wheels.

Noted yea I have black wheels and figure the black will just be too much. I found someone posted a dupicolour graphite thats next to Identical to the stock trim so might opt for that.

The lower trim looks goooood man. Did you remove the front and rear bumpers or just mask them off like the sides? I want to do this to my sg5 but I think I may want to remove the bumpers for the sake of better coverage.

Haven’t updated here in awhile. Drove over the mountain to visit my bro. Noticed the headlights were pretty inadequate. So I came home and bought some sylvania “extra power” 9003’s. Can’t really see a difference. Maybe this is as good as the headlights get?
Also replaced the dash lights that were out. I replaced the two 197 bulbs for the tacho and Speedo. Installed, and, lo and behold, those are fixed, BUT now another bulb is out! Yeesh. What type are the little bulbs in the dash?
I’m also looking to do the foglight separation mod so I can run fogs with High beams.

Need better headlights?

Prodrive done an upgrade kit of the foglights to driving lights that switched on with the high beams. In reality the only part that made it Forester Specific were the mounting brackets.
The rest of the kit were simple H3 halogen Hella lights - I'll grab the dimensions if you like as I have a set in the garage right now waiting to go back on my Foz. There are LED equivalents that are probably much brighter with a better beam pattern too.

Search is best for the dashboard bulb types
This will tell you how to change them

Yes Queensland healer/black Labrador. We occasionally call him “the velociraptor” due to the intelligence levels displayed. Quite a fun and smart animal. And loves his subie rides.
Nice! We just saved a mutt before he went to the pound from his previous owners. Smart and stubborn as can be! I think he’s got beagle and basenji in him based on look and temperament, but who knows. We love him though, great dog!
