If only leather didn't look like crap after a few years .... (even if it is well maintained)

Oh and the other downsides of course.

;)
Leather can look good over the years and usually does. I have a 10+ year old Pontiac with leather. It looks nearly new, other than a very small, crack line ar the base of the passenger seat. Heck, I think that portion of the seat is vinyl anyway. All I do to maintain it is spray windex on a cloth towel, then clean appropriately. No tint on this vehicle.

My 2005 FXT has leather that also looks new. Under the child seat, the leather is still perfect, it just has an indentation from where the seat has been strapped down. If I were to replace the cushion under the leather, the seat would look brand new instantly. If I remove the child seat, it takes a couple weeks for the indentation to completely go away. There are no actual wear marks in the leather itself. Again, no tint on this vehicle. In my previous post, I only mentioned this, as it is a valid point that had not been brought up.

IMO, the condition of the interior, as anything else is based on the user. If a leather interior is trashed after 10 years, likely that same owner would have destroyed a cloth interior too.

I vote for leather. Our MY06 XT came with leather standard.
Once my 5 yr old daughter had a full cup of milk-tea 16oz spilled over the middle of the back seat, at a green light start. Although I pulled over right away and picked up the cup, half of the milk-tea was gone. However the seat surface was easy to recover from this disaster, a baby wipe took care of it.
After we got home, I had to remove the whole back seat to find where the half cup of milk-tea was....and cleaned it up.

I have one of these:

Helps keep the seat from getting too many bad dents.

I also say get leather if you have kids or pets. I would have gotten it in my Forester but at the time in order to get leather you needed to get an automatic too. I didn't want it that bad...
