VIOFO dashcams can be set to record in MP4. That format will be easily editable in any simple video editing software.
I have a VIOFO A229 and can transfer clips from the camera and edit them on my iPhone.

What is your OS/device? This information can be helpful to help others make more specific suggestions to you.

I have a few VIOFO dash cams. You can of course shorten the clip amount it records but after the fact, the only way would be with some video editing software. If you want a suggestion, look for CapCut. There is a free version that is pretty easy to use. I've been using the Pro Version for a little while and it's super powerful but if you want to do simple things like trim, it's really easy. Another free option is to upload the video the YouTube then get in the editing portion and you can trim it there as well.

@BattleWagon1823 Good point, I use the built in video editor on my Galaxy frequently. Does a pretty good job and if you want you can replace the sound with something else. I have the audio turned off on my dash cams. I'm from Jersey and my commentary would probably work against me if I needed the video for legal reasons...

AndroVid on Android works well. For serious editing, the free version of DaVinci Resolve is great... for simple stuff, Windows Movie Maker can work. If you know a bit about computers, you can chain vids in vlanplayer and make it render them out as one, including at different resolutions.

For a few bucks or a subscription, PowerDirector works. There are also online sites that will combine vids.
