Looking into doing my first brake job on my forester.

Wondering if anyone had a recommendations for front and rear pads and rotors.

I live in Denver and do a decent amount of ski mountain driving on i70

I was thinking about the akebono proact and advics high carbon rotors.

However I read ceramic pads might not be good with high carbon rotors and don’t do well in winter weather.

Or any other recommendations, thanks!

I've been running ceramic pads with high-carbon rotors for years.

My daughter's Honda has Raysbestos Street Performance high-carbon rotors with Akebono Proact ceramic pads.

My 2015 Forester XT has DBA T4000 high-carbon rotors with EBC Red Stuff Ceramic pads.

Ceramic pads weren't that great when they were first introduced. I tried them in the early 2000's on a high powered Ford SVT and performance wasn't as good as standard semi-metallic pads. They have advanced quite a bit however. Performance nowadays is excellent. Many performance enthusiasts including STI owners run ceramic pads and don't even think about it.

What needs to be avoided are track pads or some street/performance pads. These are designed to operate at a higher temperature and can have poor performance when cold. I call them "Oh poop!" pads because that's what you will say when you try to stop at the exit of your subdivision on a cold morning in February.

Anyway, There are lots of great combinations out there but I can vouch for Raysbestos Street Performance high-carbon rotors w/ Akebono Proact ceramic pads. Modulation is excellent. They are quiet and will produce very little dust.
