What is the spark plug gap? My manual does not list it, except to say what brand of plug Subaru uses. I can't find it anywhere. Not that I'm planning to do my own plugs, I just want to know for information.
Right. I just got NGK iridiums installed in my wifes 2012 CX9. My mechanic would have known that. The "thin wire" electrode style plugs used in current engines are recommended to not be gapped, due to the fragile nature of the electrodes. They can easily be damaged when checking the gap if forcing the gauge between the electrode and anode.
Always visually check the gaps before beginning the plug change, so retuning a defective plug for a good one is much easier.
I have yet to have that happen, but there is always a first time.
