I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and just say he's mistaken. 2014 only has the first generation of EyeSight.

 

2nd gen eyesight

I was just at my dealer today talking MY14 Forester Touring with Eyesight. I believe the Eyesight in the 2014 is the 2nd generation. The 1st gen was in the 2013 Outback and had black and white cameras. The 2014 Forester has color cameras.

In the US, this is version #1, I believe, and the new version coming out with color cameras is version 2. In the JDM market, I believe there was an earlier generation, which could mean the 2014 Forester has version 2 and the new version coming out is 3.

If he specifically told you that it has the color cameras and that it works up to 30 mph, he is lying.

The new (2nd) version of eyesight in the 2015 comes along new features such as blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.

I'm currently getting a 2014 model at 4% below invoice, but if waiting for another 2 months gives me the extra features it offers it's probably worth waiting for.

 

The current system is version 2. Version 1 was only available in Japan. Version 3 is out now in Japan and is available for the Levorg. Version 3 is the one with color cameras.

 

That is what I thought. The 2014 has the 1st version offered in the US, but it is the 2nd version of the Eyesight system.

 

I found this easier to read than the manual lol . . hopefully it's accurate. Good explanation of the latest Eyesight version and enhancements, but no mention of version number or US/Japan/wherever etc.. but it helped me understand things like 'is blind spot monitoring/warning included?' Etc....

There are a lot of little details to learn in it.

 

Lol . . of course I realize that . . especially for operation. . . 'a lot of little details' NO KIDDING! For me at least, I found this article much better for SIMPLY understanding what was included as features/functions of the LATEST Eyesight system . . and from previous posts in this thread there appears to be considerable confusion about that basic information.
