Hi, guys. I am learning to do some of my own maintenance, and yesterday replaced the serpentine belt and the PCV valve and hose on my '14 Forester with 132K.

The hose that I took out (possibly original to the car, I'm the second owner) was just friction fit with no clamps, and was on pretty good. The replacement I received (Subaru Part #11815AC610) has a spring clamp on either end. Even with the spring clamps in place I can easily pull the hose off both the manifold side and the valve side. It's on there, but definitely not tight. Does anyone know if this is expected behavior? I put the old hose back on for now, but it is quite hard and brittle and I'd like to replace it if I could.

Parts appear to be all Subaru original.

Thanks!

My 2001 Forester now has 233,000 miles on it. I have only replaced the PCV system only once in that time. Unless you're having issues with it, I would leave well enough alone. But I agree with you the hose when I did go to replace it, literally crumbled in my hands as the rubber had turned to plastic. But keep in mind this is a vacuum connection, so it's not under any pressure like a coolant hose, so the PCV hose is not likely to just "blow off".

Just a followup. After a brief email with my vendor I decided to leave the new hose and pcv valve in place. Absolutely no issues with the hose staying in place, all is well. Unfortunately I'm still burning oil.

Thanks everyone!
