Here is a new video from TLFcar:

This is true, but how many people actually drive a Forester on roads like portrayed in the video? I am not saying that at times you might not encounter heavy snow, but not on road ways like this. Normally, where I live at least, the roads get plowed somewhat pretty quickly.

Stuck for No Reason

I agree. Why not put it in X mode for the whole test. Moreover, he should have rocked it back and forth as mentioned and kept it on the high side of the trail when he approached the trouble spot.

This idiot was looking for trouble! His mudding video is worse as he actually makes the Forester successfully run up the muddy mountain road and then before the top quits saying he does not want to get stuck. He then says how great the Forester is but in grading the car says he would not "buy" one but rather "lease" one because of the antiquated infotainment unit and CVT transmission.

This guy is such a BOZO!

Now I'm sure they did manage to get it stuck. Our last couple of snow falls have been that wet, slippery garbage that is no fun to drive on. With that being said, they got it stuck because of a: incompetence or b: a need to fill their quota of new vids on youtube.

Their "quota" is to provide an educational, entertaining video everyday. They are one of my subscriptions and I thoroughly enjoy their videos.

Whether they made a mistake when driving the Forester, or whether the car just met its match, these guys are hard working individuals who try their best to please us (the audience).

They are showing what a pure stock can do, which is good info for us.

They could have powered thru a lot of deep stuff in a parking lot, they do not run a unibody fast enough to damage it offroad.

Watch a few of their videos and you will see the HD 4x4 truck and equipment they always take along.

So all it can do is get stuck on a snow covered dirt road and then we can dig it out and drive in X-mode and everything is peachy.
What about hitting the 10 inch snow covered rock in the center of the road?

If I wanted to see someone get their car stuck in the snow, I would watch Buster Keaton or Laurel and Hardy.

Good thing about video... it has an off button.

I live in CO with snow and mountains. There are plenty goofs who will try this exact thing in their less-than-capable AWD SUVs. Climb up a snowy road, get stuck and think "hey I should put it in whatever mode." I see it all the time. Girls and guys.

I could see this EXACT scenario playing out - plenty of dummies around here in the Subaru capital of the world.

So, first, having entered the hazard, I'm not sure x-mode is the best way to unstick. Wouldn't you want to turn off vdc, and since they have a simulated 2nd gear, start it in that, something to really slow down the engine.

2014 Forester

I agree. I have had my 2006 in deeper snow than that(Mt. Bachelor, OR) with aftermarket All Seasons and using lower gears and I passed an F-350 that had pulled over to install chains. I have witnesses too, who were in the car with me and they were amazed by my car.

My chains were in the back of the car.

WEAK!!! I actually like these guys and I don't think this video is set up, nor do I think they are anti Subaru. Some people simply don't know how to drive in the snow and this guy is one of these people. I drive through deeper snow than this, up hill, on dirt roads, with all seasons all the time. I like this show and the hosts seem to genuinely like Subaru's, but I have never gotten stuck in so little snow, I didn't even know it was possible. Even with all seasons, I don't feel that this is representative of what is possible with Subaru AWD.

I tend to think these guys make pretty decent reviews in general. In the video they blame the tires not the car, which is valid. Also in the comments they said they are going to take the same car out again next week in more reasonable conditions. I agree with what people have said here - pretty much no car with those tires were going to make it through that, but there will be some people who take their car straight off the lot with stock tires and do stupid things.

I really like their review lol, also I agree that this review is educational to tell people that even with AWD suv, you still may got stuck....
There are ppl ask which car with original equipment can do the trick, they say maybe a jeep wrangler or toyota FJ.
