2014 - Disable traction control up hills?

My driveway is a winding, steep uphill battle from the street.
My base 2014 Forester 2.5 CVT prevents me from getting a running
start at the bottom of the driveway. Is there anyway to prevent
the traction control from engaging the ABS to control wheel spin???
Hitting the VDC button seemed to make no difference. I do not
have X mode. The tires are brand new Michelin's.

The most you can do is disable VDC (might have to hold button to turn it off). It should allow wheelspin with VDC off.

X-mode will allow even less wheelspin than VDC, putting power to the wheels with traction.

I assume your hill is covered in snow and ice from this last storm?

Even if you turn off VDC, it's not fully off. In extreme wheel spin it will kick in.
What model of Forester? If you have Limited or Touring make sure to give X-Mode a try. It's the closest thing to limited slip differentials we have, and works pretty well for those who have it.
If you're like me (who had like the one dealer that didn't try an upsell!) with a base or Premium model you don't have it. If it's dry you should be able to make it without too much problem. Perhaps better tires than the stock junk are in order.

My base model does not have "X" mode and the tires are
brand new Michelins. We're suppose to get 12-18 inches
over the next few days and I want to be prepared as much
as possible. I'm thinking some cables on the front wheels
might just get me up the driveway.....
