2012 - Key/fob replacement (Canadian model)?

Hi everyone - can anyone suggest how to get a replacement key/fob for a reasonable price? All the dealerships near me want over $700, prepaid, no returns, no guarantee, which is ridiculous.
This is my mom's car and I don't want her spending so much money on something she might be able to get for $40 like I did with my Honda Civic.
I'm also having trouble finding the FCCID as it's not printed on the key case as several people have advised me, maybe it's worn off? There has to be another way and I'd love to know where to look!

EDIT: I have found both parts I need and could program the fob myself, but does anyone near Kingston Ontario Canada know a locksmith who can cut and program Forester blank keys?

I get keys cut for $50CAD (at a locksmith shop), I do the programming myself with a XTOOL Xpad

That's what I thought I'd need to do. Just having trouble finding a locksmith near me with the programmer and willing to cut the metal. My problem though, thanks for the info!!

Obviously I do not know for your country but down-under we have third party providers for key replacement - not that I've ever had to use them

Yes we have those here too, but they're $550.00 instead of $750.00 at the Subaru dealership, which is still way too expensive. I actually think I've found the right key blank and fob, but now I'm stuck finding a locksmith willing to cut it. May have to go to a big city.

Have checked out the Canadian Amazon website to see what they have? The customer reviews should tell you if they're self-programmable.

The programming instructions, should also be in the Owner's Manual, if that's an option?

Yes I have, no fobs are available for my year and the key offers no benefit over getting one from China. I found both parts now, but need to find a locksmith willing to cut it for me...I'm in a medium size city and most locksmiths have been put out of business by corporate stores like Home Depot and Walmart

You don't happen to be located near Kingston Ontario do you? If you were reasonably close I might ask nicely if you'd like to make a few bucks programming this one...
