2006 XT - secondary air pump delete question?

I'm looking into doing the air pump delete and block off plates and going through all the writeups (mostly for wrx/sti). I have a 2006 xt, and my question is, do I have an air pressure sensor in one of the valves? In all my reading, it seems that 07+ wrx/sti has this sensor. Would this be parallel with the forester as well?

I am not sure about yours specifically, so far I have done the mod on mine (an 08) and helped Tuned200 with his (an 07). Look through Tuned200's journal and then go look at your car to see if the parts you have are the same.

Well I knew you helped Brian with his, thought maybe you could shed some light here too. It was worth a shot.

There isn't much info in tuned's journal about the pressure sensor really, I am sure if you ask him, he can tell you what he had to do. But like FXT said since they are different years they may not be the same.

Maybe try looking up part numbers for the system on http://opposedforces.com/ that should let you figure out if they are the same.

As for the air pressure sensor, there is one in the valve body on the 07 and 08's for sure. You can either just leave the whole body zip tied up in your engine compartment or you can cut the sensor out of the valve body and zip tie that in place.

Maybe Tuned can get us a shot of what he did.

On my XT one valve was stuck shut and the other was working. I just pulled the fuses so they both stayed shut and left them in place.

Max.

Any tips on preventing this secondary air valves problem..?
I'm spraying WD40 down the airpipe hopefully to the valves ,monthly.
Would turning on the ignition often, when cold , move the valves and keep them free?

Alrighty Gents, it's been a few years here but I'm going to bump this back up for info.

I just grabbed an '07 FXT and it's already throwing me that damn code for a failed air injection valve. The plan is to just remove the system entirely and tune out any CEL's associated with it (can it be done via OpenSource or Cobb?).

The question remains about that darn barometric pressure sensor. Can I just gut and remove the entire system and be done with it OR do I have to locate the sensor and leave it plugged in while removing the rest of the system? FWIW, I planned on using the KSTech delete kit.

Thanks for the help!

you want to keep the sensor. I had the stuff deleted, but just kept the valve mounted even though the ports do not connect to anything.

Stuck open is a mechanical issue, pulling the fuse wont help. Either do a delete & ECU update to disable the CEL, or replace them. I would think it's not too hard to find a used working set for cheap.

Sorry I'm getting back to his a little late. Thanks fellas. I've been researching my butt off trying to figure out the best route. I bought the two plates to delete the whole system. Once I delete the system and have the codes turned off, do I need to pull the fuses? If so which ones?
