2005 - Swap 2004 Outback XT ECU into 2005 Forester XT?

Currently looking for an 05 fxt MT ecu. No luck so far.
While looking around I've seen 04 outback xt ecu MT. As far as I know they both have the same engine EJ255. Will it work if I do the swap? I also have a tune ready to put in if I decided to go on this path.
Thanks for the input!

You'd have to flash it with an appropriate ROM, but as far as I know most (if not all) of the ecus from similar years are the same hardware-wise. Personally I'd feel much more confident flashing an auto FXT ECU than trying to use an outback part, but that's just speculation.
