@Lockheed The listings for non OEM mostly quote 75/80 A outputs

 

@don1952 Do you think that's good enough Don,? its not like im running a winch or big lights like some of those off road rigs do (@Kevin)

 

@Lockheed I run OEM which is supposed to be 90amp according to the workshop manual but I'm sure I've read elsewhere that it's actually less. I reckon 75+amp would be OK for you so long as you also have a decent capacity battery.

 

I have a 2004 XS and bought a Subaru remanufactured alternator from my local Subaru dealer, Annapolis Subaru 2 years ago. They ship as well. This was the price 2 years ago...still working great.

Is the Forester alternator not the same as the one in the Impreza - same engine so physically at least they should be the same no? Might find a new OEM one cheaper for another platform.

Both appear to be "3 +1" smart Alternators so yes.

 

Is this of any use? Shipping can be pricey but bought stuff from here before without any issues. If you look at the compatability list there is a lot of crossover too so might help

Finally got round to buying a new alternator, got it from Andys auto parts on ebay its now charging at 14.5 volts with everything on.

Not a hard fix apart from the blaring heat, 32 degrees and working in the sun, and i dropped a nut which i have yet to retrieve.

 

I've always thought you had a loose nut Will.
