‘18 Forester 2.5l - put a turbo kit on

New to the Subaru world. I was curious if anyone has put a turbo kit on an 18 Forester with a 2.5 and cvt. My gut is telling me that there may be too much power for the cvt to handle with a turbo unless they upgraded it from what they use on the turboed 2.0.

Welcome!

This question had been asked many times. Search and you'll find the same answer every time:

"Should have bought an XT"

Neither the engine or CVT would take well to forced induction. There's not much to be done for increasing power on the N/A.

Thanks for answering the turbo question. New here and glad I didn't repeat the ask.

Now, my 2018 2.5 Forester manual has nice acceleration (still breaking it in w/ 300 mi.) in first, but 2nd and 3rd seem a bit mild. I don't want to push a new car until I get a few thousand miles on it, but is this normal?

I am coming from a BMW X3 Dinan 6 spd. I know there is a difference, but I guess my 2.5 is now just a good basic wagon?

Thanks, Delia

The 6M is pretty largely tame (but still fun), and, yeah, you now have a good basic wagon.

One small benefit, if you haven't already noticed it, is the "turbo boost": Once the blue warming-up light goes off and roughly 30-40 seconds pass, you'll feel the car kick from a boost (somewhat subtle) -- acceleration will improve, engine braking down hills will finally start to work. This is now the car running normally. You'll notice the difference. I actually look forward to it kicking in, saying in a Russian accent ... "turbo boost". :D
