xt power steering leak

Recently my power steering sprung a leak, and did its usual thing when it happens. I crawl under to see if i could see any visible leaks and sure enough. Now, i took a picture of the leak, as you can see, a pipe thats coming out of the steering rack to a rubber hose, is leaking. Now i tried putting some pipe clamps on to see if the previous clamp was bad, but no such luck. This hose runs to the others side of the rack and pinion to the other tie rod. What i need to know is; what pipe/hose is this so it can be replaced, and is it possible to just be able to replace such pipe/house without replacing the whole power steering setup. Thank you.
Also, please dont mind the rust and dirtiness, its ugly i know. Maine winters suck in my kneck of the woods.

That looks like the return line. (ie low pressure line)

If you wanted to fix this "cheap", you could probably get away with just buying a piece of rubber line from a parts store and replacing the hose. Slide it over the pipe (on the right in the picture) and clamp it past where it leaks, or cut the line just past where it is leaking and clamp the hose there.

These types of hoses come in different diameters, so bring the old one with you. Make sure you tell them it's for a power steering return line, so they don't give you coolant line (which won't do well with oil)

That's exactly what I did for my mom's 2003 XS. Ohio winters have not been kind to the underside of her Forester. Removing and replacing the PS lines would have been a nightmare. A longer section of 3/8" ID fuel rated hose covering the leaking spot in the metal return line worked just fine. Wish I would have tried that first before ordering the replacement line from the dealer. Speaking of, if you want the entire line assembly I'd gladly be willing to part with the one I have for less than dealer cost. Just drop me a PM.
