Will 5x112 fit 5x100?

My mom has a set of custom wheels laying around that came off her VW, so I just thought I might put them to use :icon_biggrin: but here is the deal.

I need opinions on this matter.

VW uses a 5x112 offset where as Subaru uses 5x100. Its only a 12mm off!!!
It is so close! is it worth the hassle of making them fit?

Sorry mate, they cannot be made to fit. The 5x100 refers to the number of wheel nut holes, and the distance from centre to centre between them.

Even if you could force them to fit, they wouldn't be in balance, and would almost certainly be very dangerous.

The "offset" is the distance from the inner rim flange to the mounting surface of the rim onto the wheel hub.

What you are talking about is referred to as the "stud spacing and pattern".

Disappointment only comes with life, mate.

In Oz, wheel spacers are banned for all passenger vehicles. There is a reason for this ...

But here's a positive.
Why not sell the rims and buy a set that will fit properly on your Subie from a s/h yard (we call them "wreckers" here)?

More choice; legal; safe ... :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool:.
