It is bad enough I am adding .5 qt of oil every 1000 miles. But now it looks like I have a bad gasket.
A vehicle built in 90's or earlier could expect this but a 2014?

Only 36K miles, don't know how long it has been leaking. Not dripping on ground yet so didn't notice.
But recently underneath and saw all the oily grime on cross member behind oil pan.
Followed it to drivers side engine mount and up some other pieces to valve cover.

Assume this will be covered under the 5yr/60k portion of warranty.
I really hate to have dealer or anyone touch my vehicles. Usually leads to more problems.
Always take care of most issues myself even under warranty unless big expense.
My Miatas and other vehicles a valve cover gasket is easy replacement.
But this looks like quite a challenge especially on the Drivers side.

So had an appointment yesterday morning. They checked it out, said was cam cage gasket.
Would need to pull engine to repair. Gave choice to keep and be finished by end of day or bring back.
Already there so let them go at it. True to promise they had it done for me to pickup by 7PM.
Also set up for oil consumption test since oil was changed as part of this.
Everything under warranty, no questions. Was quite pleased with the service.

Solved.....See no issues with the repair. And if I get a survey will give good marks.

And even though I started process for oil consumption issue, not my problem any more.
Traded on a new VW AllTrack. Time for something different.
