'18XT is in almost mint condition. 50.6K miles. Trailer Hitch, Rear stabilizer and window rain guards. Not a ding on it.

Laid out $18K. The new one has some added stuff. I don't know the MSRP but obviously its well under that. This dealership can't be beat for pricing.

The new one is silver.

Its my wife's car. I would never in a million years have believed she would be OK with getting rid of it. The other day she was turning right when an impatient idiot passed her on the right. Her '18 does not have lane change warning nor eyesight.....call me an idiot for not getting it.

Its in transit from Baltimore so we will have it this week. I wish I had not gotten rid of my '22 Limited 3 years ago. Had I kept that we would be keeping the '18 and she would be driving the '22 Limited with ALL the bells and whistles.

So now I have the Mazda CX-30 and she will have the '25 Forester. She is nervous with the keyless thing so I requested she start using that and we will not drive the '18 anymore.

6 months ago I said we will never buy another new car and now I am thinking about trading in my '25 Mazda in on another Forester...lol. We are both '79 and recently sold our home and live in a retirement facility with a 5 star health care facility. And being very careful with $$$ over the years, money really is not an issue.

Pics to follow when available.

Half serious and half not. My '18 is actually in near mint condition with almost new Michelin CC2s and 47,800 miles. Driven by a little old lady. Uses no measurable oil.

I looked at Mazda CX-50, Hyundai, Kia, Toyoda (all Forester Size), Turned out m y Forester was worth only 15K. So in all cases I would be laying out 16/17 K $s. No thanks. And that is with no options...no thanks.

One interesting thing. The Corolla Cross was just a tad smaller than forester and a bit bigger than XV . The other thing i foung out is (I was going to pay cash)..by doing a 4.5% loan I could get $2000 off AND...I could pay it off in 3 month...duuuuh. I will remember that.

So this summer I will do the walnut blast and CVT service at my subaru service place for probably around $1100 and will have the cat AT Least another 4 years... My wife loves her Forester.

DO NOT SELL your 18XT!!!

All the newer vehicles have lots of very ANNOYING features, auto stop start, constant warnings about everything around you, constant warnings to keep your eyes on the road. Plus the big video screen in the middle of the dashboard is IRRITATING slow to do anything including climate controls and tuning the radio. The older models are better, simpler, easier to use less irritating, fewer bells and whistles, fewer things to break.

Just an opinion from an old grumpy gut who loves his two Subarus.

Re climate controls and radio, you've never used the screen, I see.

Re more things to break, there's one screen, compared to multiple buttons and knobs that are each a thing to break. And by the way, the physical controls for climate and radio are there on the 2025. I guess you've never seen a 2025.

I have seen a 2025 Forester and Crosstrek, very annoying center screen, too many steps to change things which only require one step in my 2014 Forester. Replacing a knob is much simpler and easier than replacing an entire head unit. Not impressed with new cars, to much stuff I don't need, too many nanny gadgets which cannot be permanently turned off.

I have no idea what I would buy if my Forester were destroyed.

If it were my XT, especially in the condition yours is, I would keep it. Just my opinion.

Turned out m y Forester was worth only 15K
Is that trade or private party value?

You could buy a new car now on the lot that hasn't been affected by the tariff yet, and then wait a couple months for the used car prices to shoot up and then sell your Forester? Just a thought.

Okay, but this is not applicable to the Forester, as there are redundant physical controls. Or maybe they are primary controls and the ones on the screen are redundant.

I have a '25 Mazda CX-30 and the Forester. The extended warranty runs out next year. The XT is in Primo shape. 50K miles. The wife may not go along with it. When she gets used to a new vehicle she never wants to get rid of it.

We'll see. It will be her choice. The XT is a blast to drive.

Hey @adc I hope this means you like the Mazda as your DD.

I would keep the XT; my wife is driving our '17 2.5i and I can't imagine her having to learn the controls in a new car. That said, our '17 has Eyesight. I recall you are also seniors, so if you don't have Eyesight in the XT, that might make it worthwhile to make her a bit safer in a new car.

But the lcd screen controls in the new Foz are not something that I want, nor does my wife.

Our '17 ran out of extended warranty this year, as did my '18 Murano. The Forester has the 10 year Subaru CVT warranty and I think your XT also does(?)

I have 56K miles on it. It is in mint condition. Crossclimate 2 Tires, aftermarket torsion bar. The car is in mint condition. I have cleaned the intake valves 5 times and once at the dealer. The car's 250 seems under rated. It uses no oil.

I am trading it in for the cheapest Forester I can get. that should be a MSRP of around $33K. S0 I am hoping to pay out say $16K.

I will let you guys know the dealer that gets it.

I do like the CX-30. Its been trouble free and it looks to be reliable. At 191 HP on a smaller vehicle its quite peppy

With my 2018 XT, and my 2025, I've had the occasional false positive where EyeSight slams on the brakes. Usually it's not a big deal and just an annoyance or an embarrassment to the passengers, and I say "I didn't do that." But in the last couple weeks, while overtaking a cyclist, my 2025 hit the brakes HARD. That incidence was a problem. My car, and the cyclist, were properly in separate lanes. We were not close, we were properly positioned in the lanes. And I overtake cars in other lanes regularly.

Otherwise, the 2025 EyeSight is much better than the 2018's, both in terms of continuing to operate in inclement weather, around sharper curves, etc. My 2018 EyeSight used to say bye bye quite often, the 2025's is almost always operating.
