Rolling Road Results - advice needed

All,

visited Surrey Rolling Road on Saturday and had the car Dyno'd.

Max BHP -Good @ 335.1
Max Torque - not so good @ 313ish

Boost running fine at 1.3 Bar Max

Chappy made some comments on the low torque indicating it may be due to the air/fuel mix running too rich - see below:

You will see the plot actually dropped off of his scale.

As the car was mapped before I had the Induction Kit put on he suspected this may be causing the fueling problem, and it could be mapped out, leading to more torque in the mid range and more economy. He was expecting the torque curve to shoot up around 3000 and peak just after, whereas you will see that mine creeps up peaking just after 5000.

Comments...? All sound feasilble..?

That fuel curve is definately too rich, mine drops off at the top end but yours is below lambda reading.

I would suspect that the more aggressive airflow past the MAF sensor is messing things up a bit, surely it would be better economy to replace the stock airbox, seeing as it was mapped with that in place, they are good for nearly 400bhp...

The curve is very wavy too, was it mapped on the rollers or road?

OK thanks for confirming.

Seems a bit retrograde to take an "upgrade" off. I know opinion is divided on air intake methods, but as the car is doing c15 BHP over what it's predicted to do with a panel filter I think I stick with the induction kit and get the torque up to match.

Pass. RC developments.

Am I correct in thinking all you have is the induction kit? If that is the case then, yes, your results are quite good considering...... I think Litchfield quote 300/300 with just a remap.

Not quite:
1. Walbro fuel pump/regulator
2. Apexi AVC-R
3. Zero Sports Induction kit / Intake pipe
4. Zero sports high pressure rad cap (1.3)
5. Zero Sports Intercooler hose
6. RC Developments custom stainless steel exhaust system
7. Ecutek remap

So basically just an exhaust & a remap is what's making the majority of the difference over standard. The AVC-R maybe allows a more accurate control over boost etc and is nice to look at (ooooo look at the pretty dials), but the rest is just fluff in real terms.

How much of the exhaust is new... is it the tail pipe end (back box). Or from the catalytic converter back (cat back), or all the way to the turbo (big red thing under your bonnet...makes twinky noises when hot) - turbo back...

I shall pose the Qu to RC Dev then and see what they say.

When you say to release those ponies do you mean to get the extra Torqueees...?

Just had a look under the back on the car (all I can do without moving it)and can see new pipe all the way as far as I can see.

Just lift the bonnet and look behind the turbo, if there is a 3 inch pipe going all the way down under the car then it's turbo back, if the pipe has a massive bulge in it then it's a cat back...

OK, so there is a problem there. Milltek and H&S both have 100 cell sports cat. But your problem is fueling. I didn't realise earlier that it is rich rather than lean (which I would expect with an un-mapped CAI). Its a strange map to be sure...

Did you say you have an adjustable FPR? If so what pressure is it at, because you should be more or less at stock injector duty at your level of tune..

Damned impressive!

So... how's it feel to drive now?
Definitely more there in the mid-range. Apparently it will take a few drives for the map to settle/adjust or whatever the phrase is, so I haven't given it the full beans yet as I've only just crawled home back round the M25. First impressions good though.
