I'm about to purchase a 2015 Forester Premium, with cloth seats. The dealer is offering a ProtectALL product, which includes application of interior and exterior protectant, as well as 5-year warranty coverage to fix dings, remove stains, and fix or replace upholstery as needed. It's being offered for $599.

Has anybody used this coverage, and is it worth it? I have a 1-year old, and may eventually have a second child.

Here's some information I found from another dealer's website.

Ding repair are done using paintless dent removal. If you live in big city where parking space are smaller it would be worth it. Does it have to be done at the dealership you bought it from? Depend on how far you live from that dealership it might never get used.

> An exterior protectant that repels dings. Really?

Well, no. They'll repair dings. The repellant is more to protect from stuff that would damage the paint.

They say they'll repair dings smaller than a credit card, and they'll clean or fix damage to the seats. With small children, I can only imagine the stains or tears I might be facing.

In terms of resale value, if I could get these issues fixed for free, it might be worth it.

Good question. I'm close to the dealership now, but who knows in the future.

Put that $599 towards a set of aftermarket leather seats--you can probably find a local Katzkin installer who will do it for $900-$1200. I saw what happened to my neighbor's cloth seats after less than a year and only one kid (11-years-old now), and I cannot explain why parents buy cars with cloth seats.

I purchase something similar, however it covered any/all wheel damage, tire blowouts, door dings, paint chips, and windshield damage - however it was 500. In Vegas, the door dings alone will pay itself off, people here are very disrespectful with others vehicles.
