I changed my PCV valve tonight without problems, but that's not the issue. Locating it was not a problem either, but when I went to remove it, it turned with little resistance and did not start to back out on the threads. Turns out the housing that goes down into the block was turning. I wiggled it out, clamped the PCV valve in a vice and unscrewed the housing from it. Put the new valve back on the housing, gave it a slight coat of oil and slipped it back into the hole in the block. It seems odd that nothing was holding the housing into the block as it is just a snug fit(read machined to tight tolerances) . Is this normal on the 03 with the EJ 25 motor or is something abnormal on my suby? I've searched the old threads that I could find on the PCV valve and could find no mention of a situation like mine. Any input from the guru(s) out there would be much appreciated.
It seems any system with positive pressure or vaccuum should be a little more secure to prevent debris or water from entering the engine.
