I have a factory order in process with Grand. My best deal was with Auto barn but they added on Illinois tax and title fees for me, an Indiana resident, and refused to remove them. Grand was a few hundred more than Auto barn but I got a clean bill of sale with all the details. I will be driving in from 3.5 hours away to pick up the Fox when it comes in. Not looking forward to a whole day of BS. Hopefully I'll become part of the Subaru family at the end of January or sooner.

I hate the whole day B.S. I try to get everything over and done with a head of time, then show up to sign paperwork. In 6 purchases in the last 8.5 years, the longest I've spent at a dealership was an hour when they messed up the spelling of my street name. Usually, I'm in and out in 30-45 min. I kid you not.

I do shop the price from various dealers to get the price I want from the dealer I intend to buy. I used to use 2 dealerships for this, but the one dealership had a major internal overhaul and they fired all of the good sales people and replaced them with 70's used car-sales experts. Suffice it to say, I will be using them to drive down the price in the other dealership. If the other dealership won't budge, I have 6 more dealerships within an hour of me who I am also in touch with via e-mail.

Maybe try to pick it up not on a Saturday so it isn't so busy. I'm sure that will help. Sandy will probably mention a Zurich protection package but she wasn't pushy when we declined. The finance person will mention a warranty too.

What didn't help that day was that they don't have a receptionist, so Sandy was actually available for us when we told someone we were waiting for her.

Try to ahead of time submit the financing application and make sure everything checks out with them before you arrive so that it is as quick as possible.

I guess overall I would consider them again just for Sandy. I would probably see if a local dealer would come close to their quote though first.

Man, I've got nothing but good things to say about Grand Subaru. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. They are the most "mod friendly" service department here in Chicago, and have always treated me right. I have purchased 2 cars from them (my FXT and wife's Outback). Chris Czaja in the internet sales department treated us right, and got me a sweet trade in deal on a 07 Rav4 with 97K. I have friends that have used the guys at Orland Park Subaru with good luck.

On 27 September, we placed a custom Forester order with Grand Subaru. Grand was among 3 dealerships listed by TrueCar which we were pointed to by Consumer Reports. A month prior, we had put money down on a new Forester at our local dealership.. after 2 weeks, they informed us that the car was no longer available. Done.

We determined to proceed with a custom order. The low-priced TrueCar dealer insisted that we had to visit the dealership to initiate a custom order. The second dealer kept sending us quotes from inventory. Enter Nicole Iacullo of Grand Subaru.. within a day via email, we gave her a deposit and the order was confirmed by Subaru the next day. Nicole correctly insisted that we should be prepared to wait 90 days (until January) for the delivery.

The car arrived on 28 December and we picked it up yesterday (a Friday) and were happy with the process. This was a cash sale, but we wanted to see if a trade-in was worthwhile. All told, including some bumps at the end (frozen license plate and city sticker on the old car) we were out a little after 4 hours.

So.. a couple weeks after placing the order, I came across this post. This caused great angst city for me, but I decided to stand pat.. and now want to add something positive about Grand Subaru due to our excellent purchasing experience via Nicole.

I picked up our custom order 2017 Forester Limited from Grand on 12/28/16. We arrived at 5PM and were out the door at 8PM. They treated us well, and even altered financing later in my favor. Nicole was great. We had some waiting for paperwork, and Nicole explained all the features of the car well. I am very pleased with my experience at Grand Subaru and highly recommend them.

Just read the post as I said I would. Interesting that your salesman at Gerald was mine initially at Grand with my STI. I didn't see that until after my other post. I will say that I walked in for my XT expecting the 0% too and they said I just missed it. I then told them I would get .9% at my credit union and they matched that, which saved me the hassle of re-financing and fees. I did re-finance my STI after I bought it from 1.9% with Subaru to .9 at my credit union. Still, overall I was happy with Mason and Sandy at Grand. I have sent a few friends there who have also left happy. Your concern with the AM remote start is actually a plus for me. I prefer Viper products and have the Viper alarm/remote start installed on my XT. I don't have to worry about Grand saying it will void the warranty like another dealers tried to tell me but thats a whole different conversation. Glad you ended up with Mason. I bought my 3 year old at the time to place the desposit on my STI and he had these magnets on his desk. My daughter loved them and he ended up giving them to her. I never forget someone who looks out for kids.

I just purchased my 4th car from Grand and I havent had any bad experiences. Melissa has always given me the lowest prices by email I could find anywhere in the NW Chicago burbs (or any of my friends who I have referred to them) and Sandy handled the actual transaction this time and was great. I was out in 2 hours, even then I thought finance were dragging things running the credit etc though the actual signing in the office took literally 10 minutes. I was there on a saturday once, its a total zoo then. Go early in month and mid week daytime. Yes, I know not everyone can.

I worked with Jason and had a great experience (and very different to the appalling tactics from Mid City, aka Berman, Subaru). Nothing but good things to say about them!

Want to share my ordeal @ Grand Subaru and how things can go south after a getting email confirmation and putting a deposit.

Myself and wife step into Grand Subaru @ 9.00 AM with email confirmation from Salesman-Jason Zapfel on VIN+Accessories+Selling Price.

With-in first 30 mintues get a shocker that remote starter is not yet installed and device is not an OEM but 3rd party. They insist OEM is not good and after market is way to go,they were willing to reduce selling price ,if I dont accept the 3rd party kit. My price included the OEM with installation .I spend next 4 hours on this and final outcome- physically hand over OEM kit and I pay the installation cost once I reach home.

Next 3 hrs in F&I, Grand trying to secure a lender for me after SOA 0 % was declined.I was expecting this, so I had secured a pre approval from my Federal CU,but still they talked to 3 other lenders and after multiple many credit hits. I insisted they work with my bank and stop talkin to other lenders for me.

After F&I was done ,it was around 4 PM and we were in dealership since 9:00 AM. Even before providing us a chance to look at the car they requested that we sign the title and thats when we get the final blow -the "new" car had 174 miles on it.It was mentioned about the dealer swap but Jaison said it would be shipped, but right away i knew it wasnt the case.

I raise my concerns about whole deal and that's when manager-Brian Skeate make an entrance,I am seeing him for the first time, Brian is very unruly and started speaking very rash with us and said that they no longer want my business and that I get out of the dealership. His reasoning was that we are pushy and they were accommodating all my request, which was a blatant lie given that at no point I had negotiated on price or accessories after stepping into showroom ,that was all done 4 days prior via email and buttoned up,contary to his statement,we were accommodating given we were ready to bear the installation cost.

The entire day, my 5 year old daughter was at my friends place and they had to cancel their personal plans to baby sit her,my intention was to get in and out within 2-3 Hrs as I had all things confirmed via email even before coming in.

However after spending 8 hours in there,I still no car to drive back home and had to spend $350 on rental car including one way fee to get back home after picking up daugther.
I knew some of our sales staff could be straight up pieces of garbage but wow :icon_mad: We sometimes would get the vehicles in to the dealer and have to install the accessories that the customers requested. They were just mad because you weren't willing to take any of the bs. I don't blame you either. I knew the staff so when I purchased my cars it was relatively cut and dry. I'm sorry they treated you that way. Was things like this that made me mad for our customers.

@KayG.
Yes,I was not taking any of their bs only because I had everything in email prior to hitting dealership.Actually we drove like 5 hrs from my place in a rental and then with no car in evening, had to take my second one way rental.Paid close to 500USD for my one way fee-TO n From, took my second rental that day from rental
I could have folded, but it was more of principle and way they treated me and my wife whole day.We decided we walk off in closing time.
Yes salesman,F&I do all tricks and its their job but at times they need to know that they come across some no nonsense buyers and need to know when to stop esp knowing after customer had done all home work prior to stepping in.
