Guess 100 thousand miles is the new norm for Subaru? Not real happy.
Nope...not the new norm...just a great warranty on a solid tranny. Who else gives you 100K miles on your transmission besides Hyundai and Kia? Just because they give you the added peace of mind to 100K doesn't mean it won't last for 200K+ miles:wink2:

Yee with little faith.....

Guess I'm a little old school. I have had cars that easily reached in the 200 thousand mile range. Guess 100 thousand miles is the new norm for Subaru? Not real happy.
Am I reading this right? You're not happy Subaru gave you a warranty to 100k miles for your transmission because you believe that's not good enough?

Here's an article on the issue:

Evidently, they are extending for no reason other than to reassure customers that it is a solid transmission.
I think there were issues with years 2017 and earlier because they included a claim form and had slightly different verbiage if you had hit 100k miles already. Seems that 2018's haven't experienced issues yet and I highly doubt anyone has hit 100k miles in a 2018 by now.

I bought my Forester Premium in late March 2018 and I just received the CVT extended warranty letter today. I called the number at the bottom for more information and was told that the warranty was recently extended to include 2018 models. I was told that there were no known issues with the 2018 models. Although I am not quoting her, the representative implied that this was a gesture to help instill customer confidence in the CVT transmission in light of previous issues.

My letter was in the mail today for the 2018XT. Now I'm second guessing my recent purchase of the 10/100 Gold Plus warranty. Seems less valuable to me now but I'm going to keep it. GAH!

Do you really have a choice? I doubt you get get a refund on a 10/100 warranty.

Made me feel better about the transmission leak issue that I had at less than 10k miles not leaving me in the lurch. No complaints about this decision, thanks SoA.

I am happy they are extending the warranty, just concerned Subaru feels they need to extend it. My 2014 was having issues with the CVT temperature. Got rid of it as I didn't want to deal with it. Just hoping the 2018 serves me well. at 18,000 miles absolutely no issues.

Yes, he has a choice. You can cancel at any time and receive a prorated amount back minus the small processing fee.

I would certainly keep it as I think the least of your issues down the road will be your CVT...these cars are packed with very expensive electronics and any issues with EyeSight alone will make it a very wise investment.
