You probably can get reimbursed for that. I remember the CVT warranty extension for the 14-15s mentioning that. Contact SOA

I've seen the front pages posted for past TSB's...like that thread about ECU reprogramming to solve the weird low speed engine surging/hesitation issue on 2017 Foresters.

Since the letter is going out to owners anyway, hopefully this is acceptable.

See the second page of the letter to owners in my post above. It states that you may be eligible for reimbursement for previously unreimbursed CVT repair or replacements costs after the expiration of the original Warranty and before this extension.

There is a CVT Extension Hotline at 844-373-6622 if you have questions about it. There is a website mentioned for applying for reimbursement, but it does not appear to be set up yet. I would expect it to be up sometime this month.

Actually $7k is the average cost. He got Subaru to agree to not charge for the CVT only had to pay for the labor.

Correct. I had agreed to pay $1K flat rate for the labor. They gave me a rebuilt CVT at no charge.

I believe the "Subaru Product/Campaign Bulletin" category is a better match to what you're describing. Also even though the techinfo.subaru.com website does allow the entry of the VIN number to filter documents, it only limits the results by the associated year, model, and trim. Even then it will give me documents only applicable to turbo XT models, where mine is not. The other way to check the service campaigns is logging into mysubaru.com and going to "SERVICE CAMPAIGNS AND RECALLS" under the "Service" tab at the top the page. Here the results are limited to your specific VIN number.

I received one of those for my 2015, currently I'm at 45000 miles, nice that Subaru extended the warranty for this.

I am sure if you call SOA, they will deal with it appropriately and you will get a full refund.

Well considering that you have a cheaper payment for your insurance coverages, I would think since they don't have to fix the cvt, cause it's covered by the Subaru warranty, it would be cheaper overall for the 7 year extended warranty.

Does anyone know the frequency or percentages of 2015 Foresters that are having CVT issues? Is the problem happening at a certain mileage? Is there a preventative measure to head off the issue before it occurs? Can the affected vehicles be checked early? Are all 2015 Foresters having problems? Why doesn’t SOA start a recall to have filters put in instead of replacing CVTs?

I received the Warranty Extension letter in the mail today, along with a claim reimbursement form. The website mentioned in the letter for online reimbursement application is still not active.

As did I for my 2016.

Honestly, I'm rather heartened that Subaru has done this. Glad they are standing by their customers. It goes towards peace of mind if nothing else.

Awesome!! The best part is I just purchased a Subaru Gold ext warranty explicitly for the CVT that I can now cancel and get refunded!!!!
