Well turns out I had the same problem as Duane in this link http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f75/ecutek-licence-366641/ and suggested by @Gigsy a replacement from the 1.0mm restrictor pill / orifice as standard to an 0.8mm pill to see If I can raise the boost pressure from 5psi to at least 8psi standard ,if not more as the PPP Ecu I think wants 11psi ...Someone verify this please or correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway I received it today and promptly fitted it after work. Now my gauge still says max 5psi but now fluctuates down and back up depending on acceleration but only reaching 5psi .

However the car feels like a totally and I mean totally different beast . From start she boosts after around 10 meters and completely pushes me back in my seat and this is not even hard acceleration and will fly through the gear range and before you know it I'm doing 130 and feels like she's still got more.:icon_surprised:

Maybe my cheapo gauge isn't up the the task as only bought it because it was a blue LED digital to match my illuminations on dash and was only £20 from fleabay.

Now all I need to do is buy another decent gauge to monitor boost levels unless there is another more technical way ...I.e OBD1 via tablet as I've a Subaru OBD1 specific cable for her now ....wonder if Torque would work or is this only compatible with OBDII?

Mmmm decisions decisions....Anyone got a nice gauge for sale? Preferably digital.

Cheers ..I'm off out to have a raz to the nearest petrol station....or maybe the next nearest. :icon_cool:

Currently guys at Tracktive are fitting the Prosport gauges fro me, so as soon as I collect it, I will be able to tell something about their condition. Being 100% honest, I got the quite cheap (almost for free, taking into account that I get them with brand new, zero sport tripod for Forester). The gauges look quite nice, however, senders look a bit poor. But to be honest I think quality/price they are winners.
Obviously the best you can get would be genuine DEFi (subaru Genome), but you are looking around £300 for a used set. Brand new boost would cost you about £250 from importcarparts, or obviously less from japanparts. Defi (Genome) has very nice swipe ceremony as well - pretty cool and impressive. And most important they seems so to have opinion of the best gauges.
Although I have boost from prosport, very nice Genome is 'swimig' to me from Japan
Oh yeah, one more thing, I believe electronic gauges would be more accurate than mechanical one's.

As Im having quite a few problems with surging on my 2003 XT what would happen if I dropped a 1mm pill into the car instead of 1.2mm??

Its running the stock TF035 turbo atm - and reaches 8.9-9.0 PSI under normal use, but can occasionally spike at 10PSI.

Would a smaller pill help if its wastegate flutter in my case, and would it do any long term harm to the engine?

I've just been out to a mates house and thought I'd just try plumb the gauge sender into the intake instead of a 'T' piece after the restrictor pill and OMG I think it's working as she sits at -10 on tick over and gets to 11 psi on full boost from around 2500 rpm all the way till the red line .

Is the gauge supposed to be in negitive then increase to 11 psi as thought that would be 21 psi altogether?

She's uber quick now though and I'm stoked to fk....

@Bod If you PM me your address I'll send you a 1 mm pill free of charge bud as I've 3 spare now ..:icon_cool:

P.S Thanks @Gigsy your a star mate.

I have ProSport gauges aswell. (Oil temp&pressure, turbo boost)
oil temp and turbo boost gauges work well, but I have an issue with oil pressure gauge.
when the oil is warm (ca 80C) then it reads the oil pressure about 0,5bar. It should be around 3 bar with my 12mm modified highpressure oilpump. (my mate has same oilpump and it reads 2,8-3bar when warm).
I've read that their pressure sender isn't very good. So I ordered new sender, I'll see if that changes anything.

Blitz Dual SBC type R boost controller

Has anyone fitted one of these to their car?

I have fitted mine last week and would like to know what settings others are using.
I have first setting to 20 gain and 40 ratio.
second setting 10 gain and 40 ratio.
Third 10/50
Fourth 10/60 .
Don't know what scramble mode is and just noticed a limiter mode too :icon_confused:

Now I've only been using the first setting and OMG she's quick . and when she reaches 12 psi plus ; she cuts the boost ( Well I think it's that as can't see the control unit as it's in the ashtray cubby ).This was done only by trial and error by increasing the gain/ratio until I reached the desired 12 psi I wanted for now as I don't really know what I'm doing :icon_redface: and thought as my gauge read 12 psi that would be sweet.........

I have the warning set at 1.3 hkPa and using a kilopascal to psi converter it shows it would be 18.85  (which I'm thinking could be too high). But my gauge shows only 12 psi when boost or maybe it's the limiter is exceeded :confused: (cr*p gauge ?)

Can anyone shed any light to what a good max cut off would be for my engine with PPP ecu ,TD04 & full stainless inc Prodrive sports cat and BB?

And to what gain and ratio settings your using?

Cheers in advance.

Andy.
P.S. I hope this makes sense as I've read this back 3 or 4 times and now I'm confused more lol. In a few less words I just want to copy someone's settings so I don't result in det.

I've got a DSBC-R on the Mazda...

From what I remember as it's been a long time since I looked at it..

Ratio is how much air to bleed off. So you'd adjust this to control the level of boost you want. If you have 10PSI and with it off, and you want 13PSI, you set it at 30% and it should give you a starting point..

Gain is how aggressive it is - if it's low it will build boost very slowly. Too high and it will possibly overboost/spike. If you set the gain low first, then adjust the volume/ratio to get you close to where you want to be boost wise then slowly test turning the gain up until you get good response without spiking you should be pretty set...

Limiter sets your boost limit - it will quit trying to add boost if you exceed this limit, screen will flash and possibly beep.

Scramble lets you have an additional bit of boost for a short time, I can't remember if it's automatic or needs a switch on the Blitz, I kept it disabled..

The downside of the Blitz is that everything is relative to your base boost level - so if it's cold this may rise, so you may get higher boost levels and potentially overboost.

Yeah man and you'll have the pleasure if you decide to purchase the PPP ecu  And change your restrictor pill size to 0.8 mm , just buy a mig tip .
