Well!! The driving improved!! I no longer feel the Crown Victoria driving style hehe!!

The lowering was not aggressive at all!! And as I said, I am just waiting to get a strut I can fit in.

Saludos!! Gracias :icon_biggrin:

Yes! Feels good the new driving style!! But, again, I need to install a good set of sway bars, and get a set of Koni or Bilstein.

Thought might nice to show you some pictures of a 09 XT on springs, based on previous posts, but I think nobody really cares :icon_razz: :chair:

I cared... but now I have my own Swift lowered XT to look at.

looks great, rides even better then expected, handles bumps in the road as well as OEM but corners a heck of a lot better.

could not be happier with the results.

If it helps I can tell you my experience with going from sls springs on gas struts to king springs. Let me say it like this. The sls springs are a joke. They did not hold the car up at all it seemed. So without sls struts they are useless. That should tell you how soft they are.

Yes the 09's are that much higher then any previous... at least they look that way.

I think the 09's are too tall to start with but on Swifts it now looks like the stance we are all familiar with. This is how they should come from factory.

The ride is far better though no added harshness, just a lot more sure-footed in the turns.

I will forever be thinking of coil-overs just for the look but with the exceptional ride quality I have now I would be hesitant to change it anyway.

Just like in previous years the Swifts do it for Forester owners again... if you want a great ride with a little drop, no better.

To be honest, I think that 10 mm more of lowering over the Swifts could had been great!!

THE ONLY point I was able to check this last weekend, is that the front side is taller than the rear side, and I did everything that the instruction said!! (I am a all by the book guy)!!

The fron side has at least 10 mm more than the rear side!!! Looking at the instructions, it said that for WRX and STI you should cut one chump of the shock rubbers in order to get thing properly, but it did not mention anything about the Fozzy!! And considering that the springs were made for the Fozzy and Swift has the new Fozzy on its catalog, I did not consider necessary to cut one chump of the spring's rubber!! And btw, I do not think that the rubber could be involved on that difference of height!!

MMMM!!

Thanks a lot!!!

The front will always look that way because of how the front fenders are cut compared to the rear fenders. The front fenders will always be cut bigger and have more gap because the front wheels need to turn whereas the rears do not. I can assure you that the car itself is level to the ground. I really made sure of this.

Glad people are enjoying them. Lots of care was taken into getting these springs right.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi, Im currently using Tanabe nf210. Its a bit low in front compared to the back. Seems to be the opposite of the swifts. Im looking into changing springs. Here's a pic of my friend's fxt, we have the same springs.
Image

Drop in front is around 2.5, back around 1.5. Right is stiffer but might be due to the sway bars we both installed. 23mm front, 20mm rear Cusco Sway. Im also told that the front lower, rear higher look is the standard tanabe stand with their springs.

Im thinking if I should change to swifts and just sell what I have on.

^^ To be honest, I like that look better with the rear slightly higher than the front. Gives it a more aggressive look IMO.

And I just noticed that the pic above has that color-matched door bump-strip. That REALLY makes a difference as well. I though the 09 looked very plain because it just had flat sides, but that bump-strip breaks up the flatness very well and the side profile is improved immensely. That would be one accessory I would get ASAP if (when) I get an 09+.

Thanks but its my friends forester on the pic! Mine's exactly the same but with the oem wheels. :) We have the same door side molding as well.

Do putting on sway bars make the forester ride harsh if the bar is too thick? Currently using F 23mm and R 20mm. I have a strut bar as well. Ride's stiff up front, tolerable at the rear. Not sure if its the fault of the sway and strut or its just the springs. That's why Im thinking of upgrading to swifts.

Maybe I should try removing the fsb first and returning it back to oem.

A number of factors go into making the car feel stiffer. The bars should have a minimal affect on the stiffness of the ride quality, it will affect it but should be very little, depending on how you go over a bump. Springs and struts will play the biggest part of the ride harshness. Tires are also another factory.

You can try to put your stock springs back on and see how it feels with just the bars on the car. If you feel the ride is much better than before but handles a bit better than stock, then you know it is the springs.

I know that Tanabe lowers cars more aggressively than we do on the designing of the spring. The problem with lowering too much is taking away the suspension travel, something Subarus need. We made sure that we could maximize the travel out of the spring and strut when we started on the development with the 09 Foresters. It is possible you could be hitting the front bumpstops since the front is lower.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Gary

Okay issues resolved with stiffness. I replaced my Cusco fsb (23mm) and rsb (20mm) with Selby sways. Its 22mm fsb, 20mm rsb. Difference is with the fsb and bushings (Selby is poly). Cusco fsb is almost 3 inches longer than the selby, which is the same length as oem. That made my endlinks angle in very tight. We actually broke one bolt when we were trying to remove the endlinks yesterday from the cusco fsb. Im assuming the extra length caused the stiffness (and noise on speed bumps) as now its gone. Im sure the cusco sways will work with the standard springs, not just with the lowered ones like the tanabe and swift.
