Greetings,

I have the 2.5x Premium with the All Weather "plus" package that includes the upgraded LCD radio and want to figure out if that is compatible with the backup camera.

This is the part I was looking at:
Part Number(s): H001SSC700
https://www.subaruonlineparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=1329

I've read a couple people mention that they have the "Plus" package without the TomTom Navi, but still have the camera included:
http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f151/all-weather-plus-package-123004/

My questions:
1) Does anyone know if the Premium "Plus" package is pre-wired for the backup camera? Is it just plug and play?
2) Has anyone tried to install the part?

I have the AWP with the TomTom.

I can tell you this:

1) all SH Foresters, at least 2011 and newer come prewired for the Subaru OEM Backup camera. It is plug and play. I plugged it in, turned my car on, shifted into reverse, and the screen showed the image automatically. Your HU is different, so, YMMV :) You can check a wiring diagram of your vehicle. I bought a full factory service manual, downloadable copy from ebay, for $15...all 3k+ pages of it will all of the wiring diagrams and it clearly shows the backup camera. The backup camera installation [Subaru oem] instructions will show you where the wiring plug is and that there is a plug that you have to remove before you plug in your camera to protect the connections.
2) I did install the factory kit myself. It is pretty easy. Just take your time and follow the instructions.

The only thing in the install/setup I did differently is that I added a bit of silicone caulk around the camera base as when installed there is about an 1/8" gap so water can get in and into the rear hatch when washing.

Good luck!

Good thought about the caulk, thanks. I think I'll give it a shot. I looked through the installation guide and doesn't seem terribly hard, although a decent amount of work on the chance it's not compatible. I've read a few other pieces of information that agrees, so fingers crossed it works.

Sorry for the late reply. Life got in the way of me spending money on my Subaru...

I just started looking into this again and am fairly confident it is compatible. See:
Subaru Forester Rear Vision Back Up Camera (Part No: H001SSC700): Subaru Online Parts

Rear Vision Camera adds safety and helps give a clear view behind the vehicle when backing up. H001SSC700 (For 2011-2013 Fits 2.5X Prem. w/ TomTom NAVI & 2.5X Limited non-NAVI vehicles, and for 2013 fits the X Premium Plus package equipped vehicles)

It's been hinted that it will be under the Christmas tree for me, but I will report back after I test it out!

Alright, as an update to anyone who stumbles upon this thread, I finally received and installed the backup camera. It was a fairly painless procedure and took maybe 1.5 hours to install. The instructions only had pictures, no words, so I spent a good chunk of time just interpreting the cave drawings, I mean instructions.

I think I spend 15 minutes putting it all back together once I understood what the hell I was doing, so it's really not that bad.

It was pretty easy all in all. The camera was instantly recognized when I started my car and works great. Picture is pretty good even in low light conditions. It's not infrared or anything like that during night, but it still picks up a good amount of light from the reverse lights.

I took a couple pictures to make sure I could put it all back together properly, so I'll post those if someone asks. Cheers!

Sorry to dig up old thread,

But I have a 2013 Premium package (non-plus).

I am purchasing one of the 4.3" OEM headunits.

I wanted to use either a factory camera setup (posted above) or aftermarket camera.

My question is, with no harness (existing) is there a part number for the harness that runs from the hatch to the OEM radio?

ANY help on this GREATLY appreciated!

I want to stay 100% OEM plug and play if possible.

Thank you!!!!!!
