Forester

I am currently in a 25 Forester purchased with 11 miles with the issue occuring at less then 5,000 miles I have mentioned it to the dealership many of times because the sound couldn't be duplicated they brushed it under the rug I mentioned it with a video recording as well and they stated they had to see it first hand in order for them to be able to diagnose it. I finally left it with them and it has been at the dealership for 3 Days received a call today stating that they did hear the sound however they still cannot pinpoint what is causing the sound but they are assuming it is coming from the driver side. My hands are up in the air this is why I purchased"new" to avoid repair issues but that clearly is not the case.

 

Update on forester sound:
Vehicle spent over 30 days in the shop I was informed a tech from S.O.A came out and inspected the vehicle and instantly claimed it needed a new transmission as they were unable to decide what was causing the sound. They assumed possibly an air pocket. I was informed vehicle qualifies for a buyback. I was told I can do the buyback and I would owe whatever negative equity is in the vehicle or I can keep the vehicle with the new transmission and receive a cash settlement. I am holding off on using an attorney at the moment but looking for input from others on what my best option would be. I don’t want to get stuck with a ton of extra payments on a new loan and I’m hesitating to take car that had to have the transmission replaced. So many people told me I would love my Subaru as it’s my first Subaru but i don’t feel that way! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

 

Do not buy any 2024/2025 Subaru.
I have personally purchased the 2025 Forester only to have endless issues. Warranty doesn't matter it's issue after issue. I have encountered issues with the loaner vehicles as well... Forester wilderness, Crosstrek and another Forester. My new Forester needed a new transmission within the first few months. It sat at the dealership for months and its now back in the shop for the same issue they told me the new transmission would fix. Less then a week of having it back it left me stranded when I got it back a week later. I recommend you give Honda or Mazda a browse.

Sorry you've had bad luck with your Subaru. it can, and does, happen with every manufacturer. But according to Consumer Reports and other assessors, Subaru is the best auto manufacturer sold in the U.S. Beating ALL the luxury brands for reliability, etc. Owner satisfaction is also extremely high. Wishing you better luck with your next brand for sure though.

 

I wish I could say positive things. I previously have owned 2 hondas, Chrysler, Toyota, Volkswagen and currently a Ford along with the Forester. Speaking with the service technician today he mentioned if I decided that I'm not happy with the repetitive issues on the 25 Forester to go with the 26 outback. I see in my area a lot of people own the outback and it's possible the issues aren't as expansive with the Outback but based on what I have encountered Subaru is trying to scare me away by the countless issues the vehicle has encountered. I was informed it may have something to do with the cvt. Many other foresters and Crosstreks on the lot have been notated to make the same issues mind you these are all 2025 models. I have been told by many the Mazda does not have the cvt engine which may be a huge bonus. They also make an awd vehicle! I'm glad your asking questions before diving in! I was convinced this vehicle and brand would suit my lifestyle but less then a month after signing the issues started popping up. Best of luck!

Your starting to make me think Kia may even be a better brand. I purchased my 2025 Forester new off the lot. The only miles were the test driven miles and as stated less then a month the New turned into a Lemon... Not including all the 2025 courtesy loaner vehicles I was driving around for over 3 months!

That's why it's important to look deeply into what your purchasing so it doesn't leave you stranded paying for a vehicle you can't use.
