2025 - Limited - USB map update not updating?

Having a difficult time updating the maps in my new Forester. Have had several phone calls with Subaru Customer Advocacy about this but they seem clueless to resolve the issue.

Shortly after I purchased the car, I updated the maps via USB following the instructions on the website. I installed the Map Downloader on my laptop, downloaded the new maps (9/2/2024 versions then) onto a USB and then used the USB to update the maps in the car. All worked as intended. I also set the car up to do automatic updates for 8 regional states via WIFI.

More recently, I noticed that there is a new set of updates for all the maps dated December 2nd 2024. The 8 selected states updated with WIFI successfully. However, when I went to update the whole map set via the same USB as I had done the previous time, I wound up with the same old 9/2/2024 maps. That included the 8 regional maps that had already been updated to the new December versions via WIFI, which were now reset to the old September versions. The Downloader shows the new versions, which presumably is what went onto the USB but the older September versions keep reappearing after the USB update.

Have gone through the process several times with the same result. Subscription all in order and USB worked first time but not now??

I would try from the start again. Format the 64gb usb drive and down load the New Maps.
Good Luck and this worked for me today on my 25 Forester Touring.

If you prefer or need to perform a manual update, you can download the Subaru Forester Touring 2025 Map Update 2025 from Subaru’s website and install it using a USB drive. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Download the Update Files Visit the official Subaru website ( Subaru-Maps.com ) Sign up and navigate to the map update section. Download the Subaru Forester Map Update 2025 file specific to your vehicle model and year.
Step 2: Prepare the USB Drive Plug a USB drive (with at least 64GB of free space) into your computer. Transfer the downloaded update files to the USB drive. Be sure to follow any instructions provided by Subaru to ensure that the update is properly formatted on the USB drive.
Step 3: Insert the USB Drive into Your Forester Once the files are transferred, remove the USB drive from your computer and insert it into the USB port in your Subaru Forester.
Step 4: Turn on the Ignition Turn the vehicle’s ignition to the “ON” position, but don’t start the engine. On the Forester’s infotainment system go to settings-navigation-map update-USB-Start and it will begin the progress
Step 5: Begin the Update Follow the on-screen prompts to begin the Subaru Forester Map Update 2025 installation. The update will begin downloading and takes about 25 min. Even through the start button red light may go off the update will still continue.
Step 6: Complete the Update After the update is complete, you’ll be notified. Safely remove the USB drive, and your Forester’s navigation system will now have the updated maps installed.
