But how much are the new headlights? That's usually the big money, not the adapter.

 

The headlamp units will probably run anywhere from about 200 bucks each to maybe 500 to 600 for a pair. This would be for new, aftermarket units.

I got a pair of the XT (non-LED) for my 2014 a few years ago for under $300 for the pair.

 

Ya I realized the headlights will be a lot. But the fact that an adapter is available and not spend the time to try and modify/make one like the others did out there will save a lot of time.

 

a reason to be leery of that YouTube video, possibly -- only the 2017-2018 Foresters have that headlight look with inboard amber turn signal. The 2016 shares appearance with the 2014-15, with the turn signal at the upper outboard corner. I have no idea how much this matters to your particular question, but it does raises doubts about the video's accuracy.

 

It may be that the harness will work for the "early" SJ models. There was the HID light units on the Eyesight equipped models that also had the LED surround light unit - but still had the same shape as shown above by whobody...

 

So do they just ignore the LED headlight leveling system? And I'm guessing there isn't the SRH either.

 

They do because you would have to add additional electronic modules to have that all work that are in conjunction with the eyesight.

I would be leery of this harness as the 16 is a different headlight, the LED swap most do from the 17-18 Touring model is specific to those model years and the wire pinning of the harnesses. All of which was updated/upgraded/changed from the 14-16MY.

I just did the OEM headlight swap. You dont need an aftermarket harness. OeM headlights are plug and play. Depin the connector and it all plugs up. Theres a good DIY thread on here to follow. Got both headlights for under 300 each. All tabs on tact. Waited months
