2018 - Rear Squeaking and Creaking?

My Forester has developed a squeaking/creaking sound near the right rear wheel area that only makes noise when the unibody frame flexes while backing out of my sloped driveway onto the street at an angle.

This is what I have done thus far to narrow down the problem:
1.) Removed everything out the back of the car including spare tire and seats. Not the problem.
2.) Lubricated the rear hatch hook. Not the problem.
3.) Backed out with the hatch wide open. Not the problem.
4.) Temporarily removed the rear sway-bar and tested. Not the problem.
5.) Sprayed and tested each individual suspension bushing with silicone spray. Not the problem (but recognize this approach is not fool-proof or perfect either).

What I believe to be remaining:
1.) Top strut mount. I’m not convinced this is the problem because it does not make any noise while going over level bumps. Only 40K miles mostly highway. Additionally, the sound does not seem to be consistently coming from the top strut-mount area, which brings me to the rear subframe…
2.) Rear subframe (cradles the rear suspension and diff). Sometimes the creaking travels from a bit right to left regardless of which way I’m backing out. Makes less noise when there’s weight in the back.

Is there anything else I should do/try before concluding the rear subframe is the source of noise?

Thanks!

I have attached a service bulletin which covers MY 14-16 for this condition. See the PDF for the in-depth fix which ranges from application of lubricant between body panels to welding of the body.

"This bulletin provides potential source locations and procedures to help isolate areas of the vehicle
which may be generating popping, clicking or creaking sounds when the body is in a “twisting” condition.
This can occur while driving on rough, irregular or uneven road surfaces or even during lowspeed
maneuvers such as pulling into or backing out of a driveway. Production information and field
reports received indicate where multiple layers of the vehicle’s body structure are spot-welded together,
primarily in the “D”-pillar and rear gate opening areas, a “stick-slip” condition can occur between
the layers and cause these types of sounds to occur."

Bon Chance!

Thanks, @0D1USA. The SB is interesting and helpful. My creaking noise is coming from the lower body area, not the D pillar; however, it gives me a few additional items to investigate. 1.) is the noise being resonated from another part of the car, such as the D pillar, or 2.) is there a potential spot weld failure in the wheel well area.

Not quite sure of how to interpret this for SB:
Changes were incorporated into production during April, 2015 and starting with the following VINs:
• F*821212 changes made to the right-hand side
• F*824154 changes made to the left-hand side.

My SN is JF*491980.

Maybe you need a trunk monkey to ride back there and listen while you repeat the noise. I have a squeak in my 2018 but it goes away when I strap cargo to the tie downs in the trunk.
