Vehicle Details:
2017 XT touring
Just picked up my first forester (17 XT touring) and I just noticed I have one odd tire on the car. I need to replace tires sooner than later. Live in the PNW with lots of rain, spend some time in the mountains so will see snow for sure - and this is my daily and I put about 20k-25k on a year.
I’ve narrowed my search down to the altimax 365 but I couldn’t find much in the way of reviews or feedback on this site.
Everyone is jumping on the cross climate 2 tires but I just really don’t like the way they look (I know this shouldn’t matter).
anyhow - any feedback is appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum! When you have a chance, please complete the Vehicle Details (including trim level) and Location sections of your profile so that info will automatically display with your postings: https://www.subaruforester.org/account/account-details

Definitely replace your tires soon because that odd ball tire could cause damage to your AWD system.

.... narrowed my search down to the altimax 365...
They looked good at the Tire Rack link. I don't have experience with that particular tire, but would consider it when my Forester comes due, based on our experience beginning almost ten years ago with General tires our other cars. The tires are economical and good.
2023 - General AltiMAX RT-45 on 2016 Impreza
2014 - General AltiMAX RT-43 on 2008 Buick Lucerne
2014 - General AltiMAX RT-43 on 2006 Scion xB
I would be concerned about the review comment that the 365 is noisy -- " tire is extremely noisy on dry pavement and horrible noise on wet pavement."
The Altimaxes on our cars are quiet, but noise was a problem on my 2008 Forester with its OE tires. I immediately replaced its OE Yokohama Geolandar tires with pricey Michelin Primary, and now Premier, because of road noise. The SG Forester evidently has little isolation/ insulation against road noise from its tires. The new Foresters are bound to be better.

That is definitely a concern for me. Most of the reviews and tests I’ve read are favorable of the 365’s for noise so that’s what I’m banking on. The CC2’s seem to get loud once they’re worn down a bit - at least from a few folks that posted that.

Consumer Reports performs road tests on tires and scores ten performance characteristics. One of the tires they recommend is the General Altimax 365 AW. Here is how they scored it compared to the CrossClimate 2:

Considering you live in the rainy PNW, I would lean toward the CC2 for its excellent hydroplaning performance.

drove about 100 miles today after getting my tires installed. Much, much quieter than my hodge-podge of tires I had on my car. Torque steer is gone, and the these seem to be much more supple and softer over the bumps. Maybe because I went with the 225/60r18 vs the 55r18. I’ll get some pics - much more sidewall than the stock rubber.

I’m sure they’re way over inflated - I’ll play tire pressure a bit but I’m super happy. Bring on the snow!!!

I doubt there is a significant difference.

I didn't notice much difference between my 2010 Impreza, 2017 Forester or 2021 Forester.

On fresh chip and seal pavement, it's pretty noisy.

Both the neon and the XJ Cherokee I had were quieter. BUT I also pulled the interior on both of those and added a fair amount of sound absorbing and damping material.

Eventually I will get to at least the 2021 Forester.
