2016 vs 2017 - Backup camera image differences? - SOLVED!

Vehicle Details:
2016 2.5i Premium
We have a 2016 2.5i Premium and a 2017 2.5i and recently put identical Kenwood head units in them. But they still have different backup images as far as the red/green/yellow lines. The 2016‘s lines are almost like a triangle, and we prefer the lines on the 2017. Is there a way to fix this so the 2016 has the same backup lines as the 2017?

The aftermarket camera I installed in my 2017 had lines that could be turned on or off, my head-unit adds the lines to the video. When I first installed the camera I had both sets of lines and it sort of looked like your 2016 photo until I turned the camera lines off.

With your headunits being the same I would check settings and maybe software versions.

Our rear camera displays always looked different. Before getting new head units, the screen in mine had those weird, pixelated lines and a really crappy image when backing up. The 2017 screen was much clearer and the backup lines were different than mine, too. Thanks for your suggestion about the lines being controlled by the head unit - I was able to find that setting and the lines look much better now.

Looking at the Subaru parts page, the backup camera in a 2017, only fits a 2017 or a 2018. The 2014-2016 models use a different camera.
You may need to switch to a 2017 camera. At $250 from Subaru I would be going to the Pick-n-Pull looking for a camera.

The guidelines were always different and we just figured it was the difference in the model year. It's just strange how his car is still using original guidelines and I cannot do that. The guidelines on his screen are off-center to make up for the fact that the camera is not in the center of the vehicle, but the guidelines on my screen are centered, so this is what throws us off when backing up. I think I will try putting a tiny marker to the right of the word "Kenwood" on the screen and see if that helps find the center of the vehicle.

@RKImpzFrst15 On my 2017 the head-unit adds the lines to the video from the camera, since I used an aftermarket camera it had the option to have the camera supply the lines if needed. Turning off the lines from the camera fixed the double lines, it was not a ground problem in this case.
