Hello All,
I have a 2012 Subaru forester. I am hoping someone can help me solve my remote starter problem.
Remote Starter model:H001SSC200 was installed by the dealer two year ago. Warranty was only for one year.
When I try to remote start the car, the car beeps but does not start. After the second beep, the car alarm goes off.
I have checked my car and remote starter batteries. They are both good.
Any help to fix the problem would be appreciated.

Thank you
M

Yes I can. Problem is, after pressing the remote starter button twice, you here two clicks, first is locking all doors again then you here the second click, then car after few seconds should start, which does not happen instead alarm goes off otherwise, car starts with the key.

I replied this in another thread: Part of the (remote) start sequence is to validate that there is a key in the ignition that is "allowed" to start the vehicle. With a remote starter, this key is "simulated" using a bypass module of some sort. It can either be a signal that is sent to the car with a key-id or in some models, a spare-key is put into a box under the dash. (there is a chip in your key that is programmed into the vehicle's system. Even if someone cut a key the same as your ignition key, it wouldn't start your car, unless the car has been programmed to recognize the other chip)

This "validation" can sometimes stop working. It sounds like the car is receiving the order to start, but the car won't process it completely. One way to trouble-shoot would be to put the ignition key into the ignition (don't turn it, just insert it) and then pressing the start button on the remote. I know it isn't a long-term solution, but if that DOES work, then you know that there is something wrong with the module that handles the "am I allowed to start" check.

My fiancé's car had this similar issue. Remote start would go through all the steps, the gauges would sweep, doors lock, but not start. Sometimes the alarm would even go off. I installed the OEM remote start kit and had it all programed back in 2019. In the summer of 2022 I had to replace the motor in her car, after that the remote start quit working.

For future reference and if anyone stumbles across this with the same problem, I hope it will help them.

Try this:

You'll need both sets of keys. Put 1 key in the ignition, not in like when the car starts beeping at you for having the key in the cylinder, but try and get it in the hole when its just barely dangling in the hole. Just the tip of the key will be in kind of slightly wedged in there. Get out of the car and lock it like usual, then attempt to remote start it. This worked for me and now both remote start fobs start the car.

I tried locking myself in the car and holding the key near the cylinder, but that didn't work. My thoughts are since maybe the metal of the key is touching the metal of the cylinder, it somehow figured out the code/voltage/signal from the key is there and the ring that goes around the cylinder is sending/receiving the right signal for the car to start.
