2006 - Dash top compartment fix/mod?

Hey all, I have a 2006 Forester I received from my uncle a few weeks ago. I've been driving it and all is nice, but my upper dash compartment latch is broken and hangs open. I tried fixing it my self and broke it more. I was searching on eBay for another part I could use, but unfortunately, they are all the "weak dash plastic". Does anyone know of somewhere I can get a stronger latch or something I could do to help the plastic... not break(so to speak)?

@2.5x_sleeper yes, thats the part. i tried to open it myself and fix it, but it fell apart lol, i would probably be better off buying a completely new compartment, but i was wondering if i could mod it so that the plastic doesnt break so easily?

@exjojo the easy fix would be to get a replacement latch. As I noted, no latch failures in either of our Forester.

You might check here on Car-Part.com for just that part, assuming you don't need the entire dash top cubby. It will cost less for the shipping!

The one I sold to a forum member went for $20, including shipping.
