I hate to make another thread about this... But exactly what causes the noise?
I am wondering if I need to drive it as softly as I do when it's cold. I pretty much just put the transmission in 2nd gear (4 speed auto) and take the 'long way' out of the neighborhood going around 15mph@1500 rpm. Then once the engine warms up and the ticking stops, I drive as normal.
Is this really needed? Am I being too cautious? Or should I keep doing it?
I don't want to do this if it doesn't make a difference.. But I also don't want the engine revving to 3k when cold if it's going to do some type of damage over time.
