Subaru HD axles

I've got a friend ordering some and shipping to me so that I can ship them to Sweden, so I'll get to put my hands on them and check them out first hand sometime soon, but I think he said they are not in stock right now.

They do sound good for lifted vehicles so I might consider them in the future for my Impreza.

Ok, here's some stats on the the Heri HD 22200 axle (02-07 Impreza). There seems to be at least one guy out there who removed the tone ring on them and is using these in the 22276 application then. It doesn't seem obvious how it would be removed, but it might pry off or need to be ground off.

Compressed length: 22 inches (flange to flange)
Weight 15.5 lbs

Overall shot, it came with an axle nut and roll pin with it too.

A little over 49mm diameter on the thick inboard end.

And now some shots for you to look at and compare to other cars to see if you can make this axle work for you (the 22276 is out of stock at AAP and they don't know when it will be back in stock)

@jf1sf5 (Vince?)I think you are the guy my friend Mark was saying I would ship this too. I misspoke earlier when I said Sweden. Take a look at the pictures and see what you think, I have a pair of these in my possession and if they work for you we can work out getting them across the pond and if you want to wait for the 22276 that's fine too, I'll keep these for my Impreza.

Didn't come back on this thread since I had my Heri's installed in october '14.

So here are my impressions. The inner boots are very weak but I found some aftermarket that fit and are more solid. Otherwise, no problems at all, I drove down to Morocco for 3 weeks last spring and to Corsica last october on a very difficult track without any issues.

You're still running stock control arms and lateral links, right Vince? You haven't gone to the wider track of SG Foresters/GD Impreza sedans?

I changed the rear for SG lateral links (+3cm wider track) about 8 years ago but didn't change anything in the front. Are the front arms wider on the SG or even compatible ?
Yeah, the SG arms are 10mm wider on each side. Here's a comparison photo:

It seems as though the people having the most problem with these axles are using the wider control arms, so I'd stick with your SF control arms for now.

Thanks for the info nepbug ! The picture doesn't seem to give 5 cm though but I can't see the entire control arm...
You're right, I was remembering wrong, it's only 10mm wider each side.

So if an extra 10mm really makes these axles much more susceptible to problems then going that tiny bit wider to barely reduce the axle angle is not worth it.

In my lifted Impreza wagon I've gone to the wider track though, but that was for tire clearance issues and I'm not running the Heri axles either.
