2009 - X AT - ID for loose hose (pictures) & could it cause oil splatter elsewhere?

Vehicle Details:
2009 Forester X
Transmission:
Automatic
Location:
East Coast
Found this hose hanging loose tonight checking something else.

I don't know how long it was disconnected, presumably somewhat recently but unsure. No OBD error codes or obvious drivability issues prior to just visually noticing it.

reconnected to hopefully the right spot, seemed like it would make sense?

( the general location looking under hood, it's on the rear passenger side, can't be seen from this view but gives context )

1. What is this hose called? Possibly PCV / Breather hose?

2. Should there be a more robust connector or does it just slide on? Do I need to do any remediation or take it in after it was disconnected for an unknown amount of time?

3. There was a good amount of thicker oil splatter around the motor oil dipstick tube, motor oil fill area tube and then noticed it kept going below in that whole area actually. Hard to get a good shot but it goes down around the metal flange and such there. I also had already wiped off some when I took the photos.

4. Is there a chance this splatter is related to the loose hose? Did that affect pressure or such and cause an acute increase in oil seepage in this other area?

( I think this splatter is pretty new because I had an oil change recently and a thorough safety inspection and I think it's enough it would have been a concern. Plus it jumped out at me as new since last time I had the hood open. )

The motor oil and other fluids were plenty full and looked clean.

Any insights or guidance are greatly appreciated, first order of business is finding out if I shouldn't drive it or if it's no big deal. Didn't notice any issues driving it last but it's a bit rough and noisy at base line at 180k... Thanks! 🎇

That's a pcv hose and there is no significant problem with it being disconnected. Do you even see any oil inside that hose? I can show you how the pcv system works, if you want to know that.

The oil down by the dipstick is probably from years of checking the oil level with the dipstick. I am forever spilling a little oil down there either from the dipstick or adding oil to the fill tube.

Thanks! The oil is a larger pattern but it's not significant volume, I think maybe there a gasket or such worn out below the filling reservoir thingy, it was hard to capture at night but the spray goes all around there and well below both both the dipstick tube and filling tube.
