So, after discussing the issue with Pleaid, I'm starting a thread for Steel Gray Metallic Foresters...

I'll kick it off with a couple of mine, with more to come as soon as I wash it and get my rack back up top and set up for winter use.

This is the week I brought it home, note the temp tags and lack of a rack...

Looking better, some stickers for personalization and cargo box up top...

And the final opening shot, complete with Shira in her usual spot in back...

Who's next?

Thanks for starting this... I posted a few of these several months back in the silver forester thread, but now that we have our own place, I'll repost them where they belong:

And most recently, with 35/20 tint:

35/20 looks great on mine and significantly reduces the temperature in the car after it sits out in the hot southern sun all day.

And yeah, thanks... I keep meaning to submit that first pic for calendar consideration.

Light bar

Since I've already posted in the "silver" thread, here are some recent photos of my CGM for "gray."

Oh the yellow fog is a paint right? Does it actually shine yellow light yellow lights would?

Cheers!

That "Gray" looks awful to the eyes (the forries look good though), is that the actual spelling or was it an error?
'Steel Gray Metallic' I got it right off of the window sticker. SOA spells it that way :icon_wink: I like the color...matches my graying hair

OK, question for the gray experts:

Is "Crystal Gray" or "Platinum Silver" darker?

I am finding conflicting info...before buying, I looked at an 04 PS which was lighter, but purchased an 05 CG which was darker than the PS. However, in researching the MY06 colors, it seems CG is the LIGHTER color...(see here: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forester/forester2006.html#colors)

Also, then at some point they introduced "Urban Gray"...what's up? It seems that on the newer ones the gray is darker.

Personally, I love the darker gray I got. I looked for a few months till I found that color.

Maybe it's just my aging eyes, but these different gray colors look pretty much the same. I was going to get the Silver, but liked the Steel Gray better.

Get some pics in here of your new ride!

After researching an '06 brochure I dug up, I realize that link I provided earlier has incorrect info. That and the Subaru website helped me get this straight.

For '04 I'm unsure but I don't think there was a gray shade, only the Platinum Silver. The colors for '05 were Platinum Silver and Crystal Gray, the latter being the darker. I've read where people complained b/c the gray wasn't dark enough. In '06 they changed to Crystal Gray and Steel Gray; the SG was substantially darker than the CG. In '07 they are Crystal Gray and Urban Gray, the latter being the darker again.

So yes the SG was a one-year color, at least in name.

It appears the the forum's pic uploader is disabled for now, but I did get a little thumbnail avatar pic in there of my Forester in the forest.

Gray Foresters seem to be in the minority. To each his own! I found scads of gold, silver and black ones, but after looking long and hard I found my gray one. It's my favorite and I'm glad I waited to get the color I wanted.
