Color question

Hey, all... I'm not a Forester owner yet, but I hope to pick up a 2010 2.5X I'm buying from a friend on Friday. I'm selling my Ford F-150 truck in favor of something that fits my life a little better these days...

Anyway, my understanding is that the only blue the 2010's came in is the Newport Blue Pearl, but the pics my friend has sent me look a lot darker than that, closer to a navy blue. I saw at least one sky blue one in the "blue Foresters" thread. So are there other blues besides Newport, or should I worry that this car has been repainted a non-stock color? (Or maybe I should assume his cell phone doesn't take great pics.)

Thanks!

From my own shopping for a 2010 Forester, Newport Blue was the only blue offered that year. By 2011, they had two blues: Marine Blue (a true lake blue) and Sky Blue. You can probably find some good pictures of them here in the forum under the heading for Member Gallery, Color-coded. My impression is that Newport Blue is a shade lighter than a standard navy color, but it is not a light shade. Newport Blue is definitely a bit lighter than the Outback color's dark blue ("Azurite" I believe). You might be able to see a picture of Newport Blue if you look up the newer Imprezas. It's a great color.

Here's a picture of the one I'll be getting, and it's a 2010. I have NO idea why it's this color. Seller swears it's dark blue and not gray. The seller's girlfriend special ordered it by pointing out one she liked on the lot and getting it in a manual tranny. Not sure why it's a non-standard color...

Looks pretty black to me. You have the sky blue, ice silver metallic, sage green, black, white, red, and another 1 or 2 colors. I wish they woulda had like a dark grey or graphite or a darker shade of green. I saw a Chevy Trailblazer on the road it was this great darker green color like a forest green. Wish they had more varieties for colors.

In agreement with MacUser--that really looks like the Dark Grey Metallic (which is very classy!). The 2010s have Black, Dark Grey, Steel Grey, and Spark Silver. Spark Silver is a very pale silver, and Steel Gray is a bit deeper. Dark Grey is a soft charcoal metallic color.

Hope the purchase works well for you! We love driving our 2010 Forester. Handles very well in winter weather!

It has to be the dark grey as it's got the platinum interior. Black does not. In person, the dark grey often appears to be either midnight blue or gunmetal depending on the light, which I quite like. I almost bought one, in fact, but the light interior was a deal-breaker.

Not to change the subject but why is it so hard to find a 2012 Forester in SW FL in Sage Green with a Taupe interior?

Thanks The Photog

For '12 they offered the Marina Blue (darker) and Sky Metallic (IMHO grandma's baby blue), which I passed on a GREAT deal, simply because I couldn't talk myself into a car that color regardless of savings.

I just picked up the car - it is indeed Dark Gray Metallic, but that color is tinged with blue. I can see how my friend would describe it as "dark blue, almost black." It's nice!
