Vehicle Details:
25' Forester Premium
FYI. So yesterday I was leaving an appointment, got in the car and turned it on. I automatically reach over to turn off the auto start/stop and it didn't respond with the normal beep and turn off. Not unusual since it can lag at startup. I tried a couple more times still nothing, so I start off on with my drive. Then suddenly the entire screen turns off, black. I get to a stop light that just turned red so I turn the car off, turn it back on, still nothing. I push and hold the radio button/knob and it still didn't respond. This is how how you turn it on if you intentionally turn it off. About a minute later as I continue driving it slowly wakes up and returns to full function. This all takes about 3 to 5 minutes. Mileage is about 15,800. I'm taking it to dealership today as I'm under warranty. I don't expect an answer beyound "cannot duplicate customer's concern" but wanted it to be of record with the dealership for future reference if it goes out completely. I will update post after my appointment.

You may get the shorter "No Trouble Found" reply instead. ;)

A tech has to be able to see and ideally replicate a problem to attempt to find a solution.
One time glitches are practically impossible to diagnose.

You may want to consider adding the available extended Gold warranty, as the replacement cost of the screen alone is likely to be similar to the warranty cost.

So apparently, the over the air update from Saturday does not match up with the current update available through the dealership. They are downloading the update to a thumb drive and then upload to the car (2 hour process). What exactly it's updating I don't know, I'll ask when I pick it up. One more post to come to close the loop.

So to wrap up, they installed update: FM1WMM183-970/updated radio. Didn't get what exactly was updated beyond "general software update" from the tech. Time will tell.
