Does anybody know what could be causing this?
I have an annoying roof rattle in my 2024 Forester, that's driving me crazy! Except for the first time, going above 6000' seems to be a trigger for it. It's coming from the left side of the headliner at the door post between the front and back door. It started when I had around 8500 miles on the car. My wore out 2010 Forester with over 200,000 miles on it didn't rattle like this.
I've taken it to the dealer three times to try and fix it. The first time, they said it was a loose bolt on the side pillar air bag, the rattle was back the next day. The next time, they kept the car for two days, used a chassis ear to try and pinpoint the location, dropped the headliner and said it was sunroof drain bolts that were loose. This seemed to fix the problem. But about a month later, when I went into the mountains above 6000', it started again, then stopped when I got back down to the valley. Two weeks after that, it came back full time. I took it in again and they dropped the headliner again and reinstalled it piece by piece to ensure all the panels were secure. This again seemed to fix the problem, but three weeks later, I went up to the mountains again and the rattle returned, so I guess I'm going to be going back to the dealership.
Should I contact Subaru of America for help with this? I can't say anything bad about this dealership, they seem to be making a sincere effort to fix this. Except for this, I love this Forester.
