2017 - I upgraded the headlights - how to aim low and high beams? - Help!

To each is own but I enjoy a whiter light output and a brighter light...so I upgraded the low beams (H11) and high beams (9005) and swapped them out for a more preferred light output from Diode Dynamics SL1...

I do not work for them or paid to showcase them...this pic does not do justice.

I drove at dusk to test if they are working and they look good but I think the passenger side light is throwing a bit low.

I don’t want to blind people but want to make sure I do it right.

FYI....All new light bulbs are properly seated in their designated housings now... help!?!

1) How do you aim the lights?

2) What tools do I need?

3) What is the preferred way to aim the headlights correctly as a DIY so I won’t have to go to a stealership or pay someone to do it for me?

Happy Tuesday,

On my `13, there is adjustment nut at the back of the headlight. (opaque colored)

On yours.... @ 5:28 mark.... Ignore the rest of the video...

I find parking in front of a blank wall/garage door with painters tape at the top of the beam cutoff to determine how far I have adjusted it. (I'm lowered)
Just keep track of how many rotations you give it when lowering/raising the beam pattern.
IIRC, towards the driver side rotation = DOWN

For LEDs I think you will need a projector type lamp otherwise you will be blinding oncoming traffic with the reflective ones.
Not necessarily. What you need are LED bulbs that have the LED in the same place as the original filament from the incandescent bulbs... It then will (basically) use the same interior structure - the shiny chrome - to aim the light the same way as the original filament... While I do not currently have Diode Dynamic bulbs on my Foz (too expensive), I recommend their bulbs AND looking at their website and the video on "why" to use this type of bulb.

@FozzieBalou, take a look at the Morimoto 2stroke 2.0s. They're comparable to the DD SL1 bulbs, and a bit cheaper. I ended up going with the Morimotos instead of the DD SL1s due to cost. They're just as bright if not brighter than the SL1s, and the fan / driver housing is full metal vs. the SL1s which have a plastic fan / driver housing.

And @eelnod, just like @FozzieBalou mentioned, on LED bulbs with a properly placed LED chip that matches the Halogen filament placement you will get the same light placement and cut off and light pattern as a halogen bulb in a reflector housing. The cheaper LED bulbs, under $100 are going to have a crazy beam pattern in reflector housing. I had this issue with my cheap LED bulbs and had a bit of a high beam effect from the lows. I was only flashed a few times by oncoming drivers. Once I made the switch to the Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0s (LED Chip is in the same placement as the halogen filament) I've had no issues with oncoming traffic.

@NavigatorsLegacy I too found the headlights aiming placement to be a bit low when I switched to a LED set up. Adjusting them up a bit made a huge difference for me. If you are thinking about doing LED fogs go with the Diode Dynamic SS3 kit. It is plug and play if you already have the stock halogen fog kit on the car, just pull out the stock fogs and put the SS3s in and plug them in. I just installed mine last week and they're killer. Super bright and great beam patterning. I went with the yellow fogs instead of the white. Pictures really do not do the light out put or color justice.

I have factory LEDs on my XT but still find coverage not as full as my LEDs on my 2013 Accord Touring. Swapped out my fog bulbs with LEDs bought from Amazon and that totally made the difference. No glaring to opposing traffic, good flooding effect. There was a Youtube post on that installation and was helpful...easy.

Its sealed. The problem is that the high and low beams come from the same projector lens. There is a solenoid in each lamp that cuts off the top beam when low beam is used giving a distinct cut off pattern. The LED is bright enough, but I don't like the beam pattern. My Honda Accord's LED has 2 projector lens per side for low beams, and a halogen high beam. The low beam pattern is excellent. I tried to swap the high beams with LEDs but found the halogen can throw more distance so I swapped it back.
